Spoilers The Roddenberry Archive brings every iteration of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise bridge to life

There is so much potential for fan service in this but I appreciate rights issues, particularly for using CGI avatars for deceased actors. Mind you, the computer game model where you buy in characters might be one model if the premiums are used like residuals.
i think sophisticated and lifelike digital avatars of beloved characters are inevitable. it is only a matter of time...

This sounds amazing. I'm curious how something like this is financially viable, there's SO MUCH more here than Memory Alpha for example, and that's spammed by ads.

The Roddenberry Archive began with an endowment by Rod Roddenberry in OTOY years back, and we eventually matched this funding as the scope expanded to what it is now. We do it out of love mostly, and to push the envelope and see what comes of it. There is a cost to streaming the 3D bridges as we did in April, but we are figuring out how to make that sustainable when we launch the updated portal.

The concept videos came out of a thought experiment from Rod to explore how we might be able to bring stories to life from TAS, the litverse (comics/novels) - and in particular themes from Gene's TMP novel.

Wow. Some very cool stuff there.

Whose deck plans are they using for the refit Enterprise? Those looked a bit like Lora Johnson's.

How much of that work was Donny's? I know he's not the one man band anymore but that shot of the chair in the rec dec (HA! They WISH they had been leather!) just screamed Donny to me.

How tall is Ton Roosendaal?

It looks like the Strategic Design ones from 1991ish to me.

I'd love to see Lora's 1701-A deck plans, snippets have appeared online but never the whole set. She did great reconciling the sets in V and VI, the reused TNG sets etc.

The foundation for the refit cutaway model was the 2009 revision of the SD deckplans.

ETA: Whoops, just got to the part you were actually talking about. Yep, that looks like the '90s black and white version of the SD plans.

Looks like, but it isn't. There Rec Deck area doesn't match. It looks like the RA version has a bowling alley off to the side, and it seems to have the gym opposite the Rec Deck that the 2009 version has. I think it might actually be the ones Lora Johnson did for a second edition of Mr. Scott's Guide (though the preview images seem to be offline).
