The Return of THE Law and Order

I wonder if they intentionally set this episode to air the same day Hulu premiered The Dropout.

Frankly, I would've led with this episode instead of throwing the Carey Lowell element into the first episode. It just seemed like overload for an opener.

That being said, after watching Rachelle Lefevre for two years on Under The Dome, I just couldn't buy her as a criminal mastermind tech science genius.
I don't think she was supposed to play a criminal mastermind tech genius. I think the promo made her out to be more dangerous than she actually was in the episode. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is the headline they ripped the story from..

...which means she was just supposed to play a charismatic blond able to dazzle investors out of their money.

Not exactly a giant leap, there, chief. About the only thing they didn't do was have her drop the "voice."

 Well, I only saw a video about the story a few months ago, so it was a few minutes before I realized where they were going.

- McCoy whining about "defund the police" felt incredibly out of character from the pragmatist we used to know.

In my personal experience, a lot of DA's, even Democrat DAs in progressive cities, turn into virtual right wingers when it affects their own offices.

The perp from the last episode was an ass, I'll grant that, but how the hell did the jury manage to return a guilty verdict without a body?

This week was the Britney Spears episode.

Also, every one of those photoshopped "character on show with celebrity" photos were poorly done. The backgrounds were too fake.

This week was the Britney Spears episode.

With a touch of Naomi Osaka.

The writers really seem to be setting Hugh Dancy up as an ass.

I can sorta see his point, actually.

Regardless of reason, Maroun went behind his back when she sent Bernard to talk to Lucy about the plea deal. Why shouldn't he threaten to fire her if she pulled a stunt like that again?

I get it, but he just seems to be plays the harder angle to her softer angle. It's setting them up to be caricatures.

Last night's ep ticked off R's. Saw a comment where someone didn't like how R's were portrayed as stupid.

Remember that Republican politician who went against Trump and his family disowned him? Wrote him a letter about how much he upset Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, etc., and how strong of a Christian that Trump is because Franklin Graham says so. Try to portray that as intelligent.

Anyone want to explain to me how they won the case tonight?

Yeah.... I expected the jury to come back with Not Guilty, since they only had one person's testimony against another.

Plus, the whole thing wrapped up very abruptly. Not a very well written episode, which is a shame, because it started out rather well.

After a preliminary search, 80% of the cases ended in victories or plea bargains.

Sounds about right. The ratio was much more balanced in the earlier--I mean very earlier--seasons, particularly 1 - 3. Shortly after Michael Moriarty quit and Sam Waterston joined, the prosecution won or reached plea deals in nearly every episode, with a few notable outliers.

And the defendant was very influential and powerful; his attorney should have been able to poke hole after hole in the other guy's testimony.

That said, I did like the added focus on Lt. Dixon. I love her scene with the street punks at the beginning.
