News The Return of 90s Television: Murphy Brown is coming back, too. What show will return next?

Yeah...don't remind me!

I'm barely over 30 and have gone on a few dates with 20 years old (hey now don't judge!) and the American ones all dress like they are on Boy Meets World. To the point if the date goes well I'm like 'You are really attractive without those clothes'.

Home Improvement.

Nope. I'd say there was a chance until Tim Allen had a hissy fit over Last Man Standing being canceled. Unless the show isn't owned by ABC then there is a chance on another network but I think he would want to much money.

Hollywood is out of ideas, and 80s/90s/00s actors whose careers have run dry are eager to jump on board. It's a little pathetic.

Revivals are just Hollywood's version of a retirement village. :techman:

Well, if we enjoy them, what's the harm?

I'm expecting a Buffy revival any time now. Whedon isn't doing anything, girl power is dominating at the box office and on TV, and Buffy is a beloved franchise. Have it follow a new slayer (or maybe a group of slayers a la Sailor Moon) in high school while the original cast can serve as mentors or special guest stars. Now that Disney owns the rights to the Buffyverse they could make a new show to kickstart their streaming service.

ORIGINAL IDEAS ARE DYING!!!!

Even though there are move TV shows on this year than any other year in history.

Original ideas went extinct decades ago. Even if it isn't a flat out continuation (Roseanne, Murphy Brown, etc) or a reboot (Hawaii 5-0) they're still reusing basic ideas.

There's even very few movies that come close to anything original, and for all I know they're still based on a book I never heard of. The Men Who Stare At Goats was a really great movie IMO, but still came from a book.

I watched that movie twice and couldn't stand it either time. My mom stopped watching it, and my best friend and I watched it years later, none of us enjoyed it.

I rather Hawaii 5-0 was a continuation. You might as well do continuations over reboots.

"Murpjhy Brown" had a appropriate ending and didn't need to come back.

"Roseanne" had a wonderful ending and should not have come back.

Shows with no good ending or no ending period, should be likely candidates. Take "Newsradio" -- no ending, just a cliff hanger of sorts. Take "Firefly" -- no ending at all. "Nowhere Man" -- no ending. "SeaQuest" -- no ending (in fact, it was set up to continue a full season, with a new protagonist race; but season three was shit, so I'd ignore it all together!).

And so forth and so on.

Yeah, to each their own. I thought it was a way different use for Clooney, Bridges & Spacey and a well made, if strange movie.

Wikipedia says reboot but I've never watched it. Those terms seem to be interchangeable most of the time.

I do know they CGI'd Jack Lord into a modern episode. Not sure what that actually meant re: reboot vs continuation.
