THE ORVILLE S2, E6: "A HAPPY REFRAIN"

Mark Jackson himself.

Cool, thanks for posting that.
I’m talking novelverse Data. It’s just him and Lal at the moment.
Grrrrrrr, I'm still pissed David Mack brought Rhea back, only to kill her off. She was a perfect love interest for Data, and I would have loved to have gotten family man Data 2.0 with a wife and kid.
Which isn't canon and therefore doesn't count.
Well, to you maybe.

Given the choice, if you chose a freak show penis, that just shows mental instability and insecurity. Find out what is "average" and then add an inch.

I saw a comedy-something a few days ago where a fictional character was lamenting about how difficult it is to have sex with regular sized women with regular sized vaginas, because either it doesn't fit comfortably, or they say "no thank you" and leave shortly after the unveiling.

Also, I feel stupid for saying this, but I only just realized why the robot is named Isaac.
Yeah, it's after the bartender on The Love Boat. *ducks* ;)

I enjoyed this episode. I expected it to crash and burn at many junctures, but it never did. It only kept upping the stakes.

I enjoyed Isaac's technobabble for why he missed Claire.

I'm looking forward to going to Isaac's home planet.

Isaac’s technobabble explanation was close to Data’s. His circuits had become accustomed to her input.

Still wonder if he sees her as a partner or a pet.

I didn't go through the whole thing, but there were some interesting hints in there about what they're doing with Isaac as the season goes one. Sounds like they'll be doing quite a bit with him.

Well, most of you all seemed to love this episode but I hated it - simply because I didn't buy Claire/Isaac for a second, not one second. Issac is such a dick, who in their right mind (Claire) would want to be with him romantically? Issac is rude to her and her kids in every scene. It doesn't add up... because he tells them stories? Issac helps Ty with his piano recital? Because they think it's cool he's an android? I watched the whole episode and forced myself to believe that this intelligent doctor would have sexy feelings for this walking insult machine. "Don't forget - you're inferior." Fucking Issac, man. The whole crew loves him. Argh! I just don't get it.

Having said that, the rest of the episode was fine and yes, they nailed the slice-of-life-on-a-starship episode.

Hey, lots of guys who other guys think are dicks do pretty well in the dating department.

Yes, I suppose that's very true.

I love Penny Johnson and she's a terrific actor but this time I found myself wondering until the very last scene if Claire was under some alien influence or plot B or something, explaining why she wanted to be with Issac. It was cool that everyone around her supported her decision... but I didn't buy it!

I'm guessing the foreshadowing of a Claire and Isaac hookup is coming to fruition. First the Jell-O guy and now a robot. Claire gets all the hot sci-fi action. :rommie:

Yaphit was hilarious and done rather well. That scene was quite the visual too! :D

Isaac won me over when he was told to become more accessible so he magically turns into a human for her to relate with. The dialogue was excellent, the acting far more so as that's what turned a good script into a great episode and the casting on this show has been consistently perfect. I put in another post already how Trek, regardless of orientation or species or anything, has never gotten the relationship soap opera nonsense even remotely interesting (much less with any depth, convincing or otherwise). Kudos to Orville. I hope it gets a third season!

I'm also thinking the whole thing is a simulation. The fact all the boney biologics weren't killed when the secret of the Kaylons is revealed and the Prime unit only orders everyone be only pushed aside as they commandeer the ship. It's a simple binary decision, there is absolutely no reason given the breadth of circumstances they would be spared.

Especially as they all sit down when they don't need chairs. That's an even bigger giveaway than any other hint spoken in the episode. :p
