THE ORVILLE, S2 E12: "SANCTUARY"

Finally catching up with this series. I'd give this one a 6 on a 10 point scale. Half boring as shit and half a bit of excitement.

The boring stuff: Bortus and Klyban. Ugh. No more of their dysfunctional relationship please! Tired of the Moclan. The counsel meetings were dull. TNG stuff at it's worst.

The bit more exciting stuff: The Orville does pew pew. That's not always a positive but it did liven up the otherwise boring episode a bit. The interesting part was seeing how the people on the ground, The Orville crew, handled a situation while the powers that be tried to work it out at a higher level. Great seeing them kick some ass too against those who deserved it.

The highlights didn't redeem the episode, but at least they were something.

It's customary at this point to add "I'd love to be proven wrong," but I think we know that goes without saying. ;)
Denny, I know we don't always agree but I do hope it's renewed. It's not my favorite show. It's got that old TNG comfort but also worn out feeling to it from my POV. But, I know lots of people really enjoy it so I'm hoping for your and their sake it does get renewed.

One point of disagreement, I can't imagine this show is expensive to make. The sets look cheap and SFx are nothing to write home about. Now, I'm a fan of TOS, classic DW, etc., so I'd never ding a series for those things, it's the stories that are of primary importance to me, but I can't believe based on visual evidence that The Orville costs much.
