Two weeks to wait on this one.

One article I read referred to The Orville as a Star Trek prequel. But based on those dates it takes place after TNG, and even the new Picard series.

Don't care for the 2 week wait. Seems like it is preempted this week so we are not even getting a rerun.

iHeart Radio Awards are taking Orville's spot next Thursday.

Is FOX spreading out the airing of the final three episodes (a 26 episode season goes from September to May, but that's too 1990. Most modern shows have fewer episodes :( thus having to be spread out, I'd guess. )

Great, now I have the sound of the voice from that guy from that one youtube channel doing something like "IHeart radio coming to you with another award shooooooow!"

I thought VH1 and MTV did the music-centric stuff? Oh, that's cable... pretty much toast since everyone is now wanting to "cut the cord" and spend far more for umpteen zillion streaming services requiring more than just a cable line and small box but in return get far more frame rate stuttering...

So, Minuet’s doppelgänger? TNG 2.0 continues on, then. Could be wrong, of course, but this preview gives me the same vibe as the most recent episode.

Presumably the remaining episodes will air each week after next until we get to the finale which should be April 11. One week prior to Disco's.

Minuet!

Look forward to it. Nice to see a plot I don't think Trek had done, at least not in the manner I'm assuming....

It's a 400 year old hologram, one would assume "generation one", found in a time capsule?

The only reason that a 400 year old holographic girlfriend would be better than a "modern" holographic girlfriend is if there is a restriction list of things that modern holograms WILL NOT do for moral reasons or health and safety reasons.

From the abundant interactive porn available, there's maybe not a lot of sexual stuff on the restricted list? It's probably exactly this, the "girlfriend experience" that is absolutely forbidden, if it gets in the way of building a life with a person, when you can just have a supportive companion built to specification.

That's not even assuming that AI complex enough to run a girlfriend simulation, continuously, might become sentient, and then get sad about being a slave and consider murdering all human life.

??? Orville is an entirely different fictional universe. There is no relation to Star Trek within the fictional world of the series. Or were you referring to something more Meta that I am unaware of?

I wasn't serious. The article referred to Orville as a Trek prequel and I was going along with that.

It's obviously not a prequel. It's an alternative timeline where Annorax – determined to stop Janeway – deflected comets near all the non-Earth Federation planets, preventing/altering abiogenesis like Picard did in All Good Things. This led to the formation of an entirely new alpha quadrant in terms of cosmic neighbours, delayed the establishment of the Federation, and Zefram Cochrane never flew his first warp engine because La Forge wasn't there to coerce him into doing it, and we saw the transporters get replaced by good exciting and daring storylines.
