Spoilers The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Discussion

It is and never will be Star Trek.
Don't let the Orville fans hear that, Star Trek fans can be weird but nobody deludes themselves more then Orville fans trying to compare that show to literally any Star Trek. Seriously, in a world were an actually well done Star Trek comedy exists with Lower Decks, even pretending that Orville is anything but a badly made ego trip from Seth MacFarlane is ridiculous.

Wow, I had assumed this was dead and buried.

What makes you think it will be a few years? They're already far enough along that we got the clip and SDCC, and I can't imagine it will take that long if they've already gotten that far into production

That is for the upcoming season 3. I think season 4 will likely be a couple of years after it.

I have a counter argument. Everyone knows what it is.

I am excited for sure. Right now the only two things in Trek that excites me is this and more SNW. DS9 on blu Ray or another season of Prodigy and of course Star Trek:Legacy could also excite me if it all happened.

No reason S4 of SNW can't be a year later. The only reason for the longer gap between seasons 2 and 3 is because of the strikes. Indeed, SNW S3 was supposed to begin filming right around the time the writer's strike began last year, meaning if it had, it would have aired sometime this year.

I will file this away in the I'll believe it when I see it folder.........like Seth's Winds of War remake that was reported everywhere for a while.........

Oh, I have trouble keeping track of that kind of stuff, so I assumed you meant that season 4 was the next one and we won't be getting any new episodes for several years.

I think some of it though has to do with Seth's busy schedule along with that of the other actors. McFarlande always seems to have like 6 projects going on at the same time. What's funny is am pumped for most of it. Another season of Ted, The Naked Gun movie and also a Smokey and the Bandit movie. That doesn't even count him still voice acting in Family Guy and American Dad. Or his music.

McFarlane has nothing to do with SNW, so why is his busy schedule relevant to the point I was responding to earlier about when SNW S4 will air?

Your right. My eyes played a trick on me and I had brain fart and misread what you said. I am not sure why SNW would have to have a longer wait. Unless Mount and some of the other actors are busy with other projects. I suspect that is reason why so many shows these days have such long breaks between seasons.

Mainly because while having less episodes per season those have become increasinly complex to film, especially flagship shows like Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Rings of Power etc. Actors are not the issue, when they sign on for a show they do so for multiple years and are under contract to keep their schedule free for the project.

At best they have a couple of weeks, maybe 2-3 months off when there's no actual filming involved so they can squeeze in a movie or two but that's it for several years if the show is successful enough.

The actors and writers strike last year also affected every production in Hollywood adding at least a couple of months delay to most projects.

I wonder how they will address Yaphit. Hopefully it will be respectful to Norm Macdonald.
