News The ongoing next Star Trek movie thread

Yes, I'm aware and was commenting on how it hardly does what it says. There's no currently active "general" thread on the Kelvin movies board (and it would get little traction), so I posted it here.

i still wonder how many star trek kelvin verse movies there would have been if jj abrahams and justin lin kept making more after star trek beyond

Based on the number for which Paramount has approved funding and signed contracts? Three.

jj abrahams

Still not his name, btw. Thought you were going to try to do better with names?

I have.

Karl Urban is holding out hope for a fourth NuTrek film.* My apologies if page 40 has covered this, as I've limited my perusal to 41.

(*It does seem very unlikely now.)
Its nice he’s optimistic. But Paramount just was not open to any ideas to a continuation.

Hawley’s plan didn’t even have Pine/Kirk and the rest of the Kelvinverse crew involved. Its was to be based around a new crew and the unboxing of Data.

Its similar to the Jaylah and the Wolf idea, where the focus was on Jaylah and the cadets and didn’t need the presence of the rest of the Kelvinverse cast. Both idea could have been used as part of a new trilogy that built to the Kelvinverse reunion.

For all the talk that what been holding back the fourth film was Pine’s and Saldana's salary, its become just as evident that Paramount did not want to play in the Kelvinverse sandbox anymore.

I read that it was Paramount trying to renegotiate the contracts for Pine and Hemsworth that killed Star Trek 4 and the Kelvinverse. Beyond made a profit with home media factored in, and expecting more diminishing returns they wanted to pay them less than was already agreed.

Curious how much of a pay cut they were asked for. 10%? 50%? Who knows.

Interesting. Weren't Pine's and Quinto's contracts renegotiated in 2015 for sequels beyond Beyond? And I remember reading rumors that there was conflict between Pine and Hemsworth about who was making more for the 4th movie.

They were just too slow making these movies to capitalize on the property and the cast before they became more famous.
