So, Okuda has stated they will edit out "distracting" easter eggs from TNG-R. Do you think they'll remove Tasha waiving at the end of Symbiosis?
Not that far from the truth. TNG was actually mastered on videotape originally, so when it was first put on DVD, it was copied from that video. It was never even up to DVD standards, let alone modern HD TV standards. Why do all of these before/after transition links being posted have the new bluray screen caps being compared with what appears to be a capture from a dusty VHS tape, pulled out of a box from a shed, and then played back on a broken TV and then photographed with a Kodak Disc camera and scanned in?

1. Which episode (out of the entire series) do you think will benefit the most from the Blu-ray release given the 'improvements'?
2. Which episode (of the entire series) do you personally look most forward to seeing given the 'improvements'?
I have a question ---
Everyone who is posting those before & after transitions --- the old footage which, when mouse-overed, change to the new footage ---

I can't fracking wait until the bluray is out, but non-HD STTNG never looked nearly as bad as most of these "before" pictures I've seen in this thread. If the screen caps in this thread are to be believed, TNG was never watchable.
Edit to add: I never once noticed a difference between any shot of the Enterprise, so 4 foot model, 2 foot model, 6 foot, 18 foot, RPG miniatures, whatever - I swear I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I had a Veron-T disrupter to my head. The new stuff looks fantastic so far though.

Personally, I'm looking forward to any exterior location photography. We get a little bit already in "Farpoint" (Griffith Park) but these are the others that I'm aware of (excluding stock shots from the films, etc.):
Justice (Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys)
The Survivors (Malibu)
Who Watches the Watchers (Vasquez Rocks)
Ménage à Troi (Hunington Library Botanical Gardens)
Family (Picard home in Encino & vineyard in Lancaster)
Final Mission (El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in San Bernadino)
Qpid (Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge)
Darmok (Bronson Canyon in Hollywood)
Ensign Ro (Bronson Canyon in Hollywood)
Silicon Avatar (Disney Ranch in Santa Clarita)
The First Duty (Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys)
Time's Arrow, Parts I & II (Pico House and Olvera Street in LA)
A Fistful of Datas (Warner Brother's Backlot)
Descent, Parts I & II (Brandeis Bardin Institute in Simi Valley)
Gambit, Part I (Griffith Park)
Attached (Bronson Canyon in Hollywood)
Homeward (Bronson Canyon in Hollywood)
Emergence (Paramount Backlot)
All Good Things... (Temecula)
(Yes, I looked them up! I think that's all of them)
As far as high-concept, VFX heavy or just plain fun episodes, I'm quite looking forward to seeing:
Where No One Has Gone Before
11001001
Heart of Glory
We'll Always Have Paris
Where Silence Has Lease
Elementary Dear Data
Contagion
Time Squared
Q Who
Peak Performance
Evolution
Booby Trap
Yesterday's Enterprise
Tin Man
The Best of Both Worlds, Parts I & II
Brothers
Remember Me
Future Imperfect
Devil's Due
Clues
The Nth Degree
Redemption, Parts I & II
A Matter of Time
Cause and Effect
The Next Phase
Relics
Ship in a Bottle
Tapestry
Starship Mine
Timescape
Phantasms
Parallels
The Pegasus
Genesis
This isn't a comprehensive list, despite it's appearance... just off the top of my head.
Any time a TV series is too early for a clip show, unless it's a sitcom where clip shows can make an ounce or two of sense.
True, but the studio wanted another clip show in season four, and that eventually turned into "The Drumhead," one of that season's highlights. They just had to be creative to save some money. I think "The First Duty" was a money-saver as well, and that was Wesley's best episode (justified the entire character, IMO).Well they came out of a writer's strike, barely got a 22 season in and had to do something to make up for big budget shows like Q Who...a clip show was the inevitable result.

This is very minor but it looks like the titles/credits are slightly brighter and the lettering more spaced out,
Not that I'm complaining or anything but in an odd sort of way I'm going to miss those old fonts I have seen over and over again throughout the years![]()
"Conveniently", yes. That's what clip shows do. It's cheap. That's why they get made. The shame of it is, with the flashback device this was a great opportunity to delve more into Riker's past, or to explore his history with Troi, or to show us moments between episodes that we hadn't seen before.
Instead he conveniently only flashes back to... the first and second seasons.
