There are lots of scores from Season 2 through the end of Season 4 that are great! Its after Ron Jones got fired that there must have been some form of production meeting that resulted in the musical score being neutered from then on.

To be honest, though, TNG was never as operatic as TOS where the music was a character in the room. Other than some of the stuff in EAF and BoBW I really can't remember any TNG music.

Listen to the scores of Q Who, The Defector, The High Ground, Tin Man, Remember Me, Final Mission, Devil's Due, Night Terrors, The Nth Degree, Power play, The Inner Light and Lessons.... You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Booby Trap as well!

EDIT: I watched Inner Light yesterday and apart from the flute its just run of the mill sonic wallpaper imho.

What was it I was watching the other day? Aaaaah....The Nth Degree I think? It had some pretty bombastic music (well, for latterish TNG at least).

Ah, I see you mentioned it. :p

Television had changed in the 25 years since TOS, the use of music on most shows was nothing like it had been. I agree it wasn't a change necessarily for the better, esp for a tv music fan, but that's the reality of the situation.

A quick 1080p Enterprise wallpaper from one of the screencaps for anyone that wants it, nothing stellar, just a couple of minutes of clone brush galore but thought I'd share anyway (click for bigger):

Very nice.

I was just looking on eBay at some old Trek toys. I have decided they should remaster and replicate every TNG episode using the Playmates figures, considering they made almost every major and minor character from the 7 years.

Shameless insert of a youtube video i posted years ago:

Wondering what the chances might be for those upconverted sections (so far just one, thankfully) to turn up and actually be in HD in time for that season's release. Or if it's gone for good. I bet it will be pretty jarring watching that transition from true HD to upconverted videotape and back :(

It would be kinda embarrassing if the "lost" film reels just landed in the wrong section. So when they start working at season 3, they suddenly turn up, but for the wrong episode.

That's a question I'm sure the restore team is asking themselves right now.

I think I already said this before, though -- raid Gate's McFadden's house. I bet she's hoarding that thirteen seconds in her sock drawer. If more scenes turn up missing, all featuring McFadden, you know I'm right.

Yeah, come to think of it you're right. But that theme is still beautiful.

Is Mr. Drexler allowed to say if they are already working on season 2 of TNG-R?
answered by the Startrek.com interview with the okuda's part 2:
we are still on the first season.
and the actual timeline?
We got a call a couple of years ago
to our amazement and delight, a year and a half later it went forward.

So that means that they've been working on season 1 for over 6 months and are still working on it.
season 2 might be out by November 2013...

Lot's of people like that, there is a huge portion of the modern audience that thinks the TOS scores were overblown and silly.

Well to be fair, there are the scores, and there are the dramatic music STABS, when something BIG happens :) Those are a bit over the top by today's standards, but the scores rule, let's be honest.

This is probably the only bad shot of the 6 footer in existence. It just looks so much like a toy... *flashback to when I had an Enterprise D toy*

I think that looks great in comparison to the original shot.

That first shot...in motion...is one of my favorites in all of Star Trek history.

There's a couple really good "beauty shots" of the ship that I love in the series, that one from the first episode is one of them. I sort-of hope that the zoom-in to one of the windows on the ship and Picard is continual shot in the BD, but I doubt it will be.

One of the other beauty shots I love is beautiful one from directly under the ship's stern as it flies over the camera.

I gotta agree, if they make that shot a seamless tracking into Picard in the window that would be incredibly sweet, and a real call-back to the opening shot of The Cage.

Check back on page 43 (just a wild guess) for a similar comment I made.
