That copy of Mass Effect 3 takes about fifty hours to do a single playthrough. Plus there's multiplayer on top of that. A season of TNG at the same price will give me less than half the entertainment-per-dollar. (And that's before you get into how TNG will always be the same on rewatches, but Mass Effect 3 can actually offer up some variation.)Just as an aside, I understand that for a lot of folks money is tight, whether in the US or the UK. I do find it weird that sometimes (and no I'm not claiming that the "sometimes" includes any discussions on Trek BBS) you hear folks harp about the cost of Blu-rays or DVDs, and the next thing you hear they're shelling out $60 on a PS3 game (Mass Effect 3 is a great example; I'm buying mine in 6 months when it's knocked down to $20 at Walmart) or hundreds on the latest iPad without batting an eyelash.
I don't think it's hypocritical or "weird" to wish that Blu-rays and DVDs were priced to give about the same entertainment-per-dollar.
(Mass Effect 3 was probably a bad example here, by the way. You would've had a better case with Modern Warfare 3 or some other shooter with a 4-6 hour campaign.
)
Some decent two hour documentary about the first season would be nice plus some new cast interviews, with some questions going deeper than the usual "What is your favorite episode?".
Needless to say, the cases were there for a very long time before they were taken off sale.
