The Night Crew

Well, according to Wiki:

The British music press (notably NME and Melody Maker) called this genre "shoegazing" because the musicians in these bands often maintained a motionless performing style, standing on stage and staring at their effects pedals or the floor while playing their instruments; hence, the idea that they were gazing at their shoes.

It makes as much sense as "rock," "grunge", "new wave," or "emo" to me.

I dunno. Just kinda sounds like Prog-Rock to me.

There are a good chunk of bands i lie that not many people have heard of.

Matthew Good, The Spades, The Weakerthans etc

I enjoy Rammstein, the Red elvises, KMFDM, G//Z/R, Hendrix, Zep, and thats pretty much it
Only six bands? :(
I'm with you on Hendrix and Zeppelin, though. Hendrix doing "This May Be Love" is one of my favorite songs. My sister likes KMFDM, which I found hysterical, because she's very...normal. It just doesn't seem to mesh with you personality.

The lines between all genres can get pretty fuzzy. Doesn't Greenday's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" prove that? But there was a definite movement and a collection of bands that define shoegazing, just as there is for grunge or punk.

Hello, hello, my friends!

Just got home from work. I'm kinda stinky because I wore the same work shirt 2 days in a row (same undershirt as well!).

I need to do a couple loads of laundry tonight before bed. Tomorrow I'm driving out with my ex-roommate to visit our other ex-roommate. We're going to get drunk together and watch the election results come in!

if you ever met me, you would either be totally confused because i'm kind of a mish-mash of different and often times conflicting tastes, or fall in love with me because i am a deep, conflicted man

^I can't love you, darling, for I have given my heart to another!

Hey now! I just can't fathom limiting myself to just a couple of genres, or to just a few bands. I have over 700 different artists on my ipod, in a multitude of genres and I still feel like I'm missing out on so much!

Yeah, i have the most random stuff on my ipod. There are over 1000 songs on my ipod from almost any genre except country.

^I have 7019. :) And I know all the lyrics to all of them! :maniacal laughter:
i don't feel the need for an I-pod
I've become almost totally reliant upon mine. As I mentioned in my first post of the evening, I spent 4 hours today wandering around the city, listening to Sigur Ros with my glasses off. :)

Yeah, see, I buy all my cds then put them on my ipod. I am way too cheap for that many songs :p

At the moment I'm also happy with my CD player, triple J (the best radio station in Australia) and the songs I have on my PC.

my CD player/ AM/FM radio does me well enough
Part of it's being on the go without a car. It's nice to have every album and song I own on a little beast the size of a deck of cards in my pocket. Sometimes the train stops and doesn't start again for 25 minutes, sometimes the doctor doesn't see you until an hour after your scheduled appointment time, sometimes you get the urge to go on a spontaneous 40 mile bike ride. I carry a book and my ipod at all times for such emergencies.
