The Night Crew

We had to do the mile run for fitness testing in high school gym class, which only happened once a year. It was the most cardio I ever did, so naturally, I was not able to finish the whole mile without walking.

peaks in..
back when i was in better shape i just never could run.
walk for miles and miles yeah but never run.

I'm in good shape. I go to the gym about 5 days a week, but I prefer bodybuilding/weightlifting.

Cardio is boring.

Yeah, I tried swimming a couple years back for cardio. It was great, but it was really hard. I'd like to do that again, but I don't have access to a pool.

I love swimming. Used to be a lifeguard back in the day. But ya, no heated indoor pool access, unless I were to join a different gym.

I ain't a runner either, but which is amazing my sister has run a few marathons, as ten years ago, she was never interested in running.

But, with myself, I could never do it, with this sore knee. It's sad I'm falling asleep right at this moment. Damn this detox program.

It's funny, I find weightlifting dreadfully boring and running fun. I think it's because when you run there are things to look at, and because you're getting somewhere.

Well, if I ever run outside, my destination is usually right back where I started, so I don't really think of myself as "getting somewhere." And looking at things...there's just not much around here to see.

More than there is to see at a gym, though. I guess another thing is that I like to be outside.

Which is why I don't do cardio at the gym either!

I like to be outside, too, and I'd gladly do cardio if it were some kind of outdoor sport. But running...it's just doing the same thing for a long period of time, and that drives me nuts. The reason I like weightlifting is because one set lasts maybe 15 seconds, then you get up and move around, and then you do another set, hopefully with extra weight. Every set is different.

put on wrist and ankle weights while running, BOBW
I've seen people do that. I prefer yoga for strength training, though. And honestly the last thing I need is more muscle mass -- I can't fit into normal boots, not because I have fat legs, but because the muscles on my calves are so large! My mom's the same way. She was hospitalized for anorexia once, and even then, when she was 20 lbs underweight, her calf muscles were so large she had to buy boots from a special store.
