So, what happened to the Next Generation crew after the last episode of the season? I'm thinking of reading the Destiny trilogy and I want to get an idea of what has happened up to that point.

Yeah, that's an incredibly obvious question, unless the person is actually asking what happened between the series finale and "Star Trek: Generations".
Ah. Well if that's the case (which it most likely is) then it's completely open to interpretation. Usually when I write fanfiction with the TNG crew I like to place it between the last season and Generations just because no one knows what really went on during that time.
Allow me to clarify a little. What happened to what was left of the crew after Nemesis? Guess I wasn't thinking when I said series finale since we did have the four movies.

4. Before Dishonour
5. Greater Than The Sum
6. Destiny-trilogy
7. Losing The Pace (coming out this year)
Also the official prequel to Star Trek 11 the graphic novel "Countdown" shows alot about what the TNG crew has been up to as well.
Tons of the books contradict each other.
When I'm thinking about what happened to the TNG crew after the series ended, I tend to think that there wasn't much time between AGT and Generations. I guess this is reflected by the fact that the first film comes out so soon after the end of the show. Then it seems that there is a considerable gap between Gens and FC, but not necessarily between it and INS. Then it seems that ages has passed between INS and NEM. Sometimes when I watch the films I wonder what's been happening to the crew and I feel sad that loads of things that have happened to them that we don't get to see. Now that the crew is fragmented and there are novels after Nemesis I feel that I have completely lost track with the TNG crew. I find that a bit sad, actually.
Well between AGT and Generations, the bridge gets a near complete make-over, so there had to have been a decent amount of time between.
I'd say that's enough time for upgrading the bridge and stuff if they went in fairly soon after AGT
No more irrelevent than the TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and the first 10 movies, all now syphoned off into an alternate timeline in the new movie's continuity.

On set it was a few weeks Marina said in an interview that the END of weekly TNG did not hit her until after ST:GENERATIONS
AFTER AGT the production team started to gear up for ST:GENERATIONS
After the finale, the crew played poker for six-months straight until it was time to play dress up in the holodeck for Worf's promotion party.
They got Picard on a slow boat to China, which is why he got so emotional by the time of Generations.
Not to mention how the books written prior to TNG's premiere involve drastically different takes on the Klingons and Romulans, in most cases directions that are completely invalidated by what came later - the Klingons have lifespans of only about forty to fifty years, Romulans are a race of honorable warriors (the Romulans and Klingons effectively had a swap of cultural traits from what later Trek established), and a handful even addressed the ever-popular 'Klingon forehead ridges' question in differing ways.
Basically, the books work with what they know from the show, make it up as they go, then try and see if they can find a middle ground between any contradictions between the two sources.
I can image that. They produced the movie so quickly, the didn't even have enough time for costume fitting. La Forge und Riker wore O'Briens/Siskos uniform, hence the folded sleeves.

That's luckily in the past. In the last fifteen years, Pocket Books have paid much attention to continuity in the books. With the Destiny-trilogy, it feels like one whole Star Trek-universe rather five different series.
