The next Batman reboot

^ Terry was meant to be about 17, IIRC. Arnie is too old. They'd need a newcomer.

I remember when the BB live-action movie was discussed, there was talk of Keanu Reeves - then in his mid-to-late 30s - as Terry. WTF?!

I've never seen Clint as old Bruce either. Too blue collar. Had they made that movie a decade or so ago, I'd have preferred to see Coburn or Newman play the part.

I'd like to see a late 40s, early 50s period Batman film that uses Dick Sprang's art as the source material. Something that's purposefully kitsch and doesn't get bogged down in the whole brooding Dark Knight of the last 20 years.

^Indeed, especially since he was already waning with The Dark Knight.

Frankly I don't have a clue at who could play Old Bruce.

Although Beau Bridges may work.

It doesn't matter to me who directs and writes the next Batman movie as long as it's good and entertains me. Nolan has been able to do an amazing adaption and has set the bar pretty high for anyone who comes after him. Nolan should be the standard in terms of quality but not the take...if I'm making sense.

You're saying don't even try to copy Nolan but don't be Brett Ratner either. :)

Arguably that's what the Burton films were at least in terms of the look of the sets and costumes. In fact, as I recall, Burton originally had a certain amount input on the design of the Timm series.

That's true. I didn't really like the Burton movies though. To me, they felt more like Tim Burton movies than Batman movies.

I really, really liked the first one, but Batman Returns was just too goofy for me. They really camped it up for that one, and I just wasn't feeling it. I watch it occasionally, but much of it gets on my nerves. The first one though, perfect, IMO.

Yeah. The Penguin for Mayor bit was right out of the 60s TV show. Not to mention the pet Penguins with missiles on their heads. And Penguin finding the blueprints for the batmobile at the Gotham Public Library. Complete Westian camp but without the sense of joy and fun that the old series had.

Maybe not explicitly a period piece, but a live action version of the Animated Series would make me so happy.

True, and that's typical of how superheroes are handled in both moives and comics today---instead of serving the characters, self-indulgent hacks morph them into whatever they happen to be in the mood for. :scream:

I hope you mean Jeff Bridges.

The Big LeBatski. Co-starring John Goodman as Gordon ('Jim, I love you, but you've got to face the fact that you're a goddamn moron!).

Actually, Jeff was one of the names rumoured to be playing the role in the late 1980s.

Jeff Bridges as Old Bruce? Hmmm...I'm thinking...I'm thinking...you might be on to something. John Goodman has to be Bullock.

When the Nolan films run out of steam(ie, when he quits doing them and they bring in other directors and fuck everything up again)

Blah, blah, other pages, just wanted to note that the second film was fucking awful, save the entertaining performance of Ledger. I don't hold out much hope for the third.
