I remember when season 2 was on the air and people were like "Why hasn't this been renewed? Not a Game of Thrones type hit, but still decent. And at that time I think someone at HBO went "Well Sorkin is very busy and there is no show without his voice, we will do the show if e can get him and the cast together again".

So I think it's more Sorkin wants to do movies, TV shows drain him (and that's why there are only 10 episode seasons) and they can't hold the cast together forever.

I'm not happy about the cancellation, but at least we'll get a full season to wrap everything up.
