The "New" TARDIS revealed!

Yes, yes, I like the new redesign. Now what about resigning the interior?
Now that's what I'm interested in seeing! I expect many, many hyperbolic hissy fits to happen when it's revealed...no matter what the design is.

Hehehehe.

:D

I am 99.9% sure that we'll see a new TARDIS interior pic, possibly sooner rather than later.
I certainly hope so.

I assure you I'll love whatever they give us.

As long as it's not the leopard skin. ;)

Oh, I dunno...the "70's Love-Pad Of Groove And Awesome" TARDIS could be a thing of beauty...

I like the "new old" look. I've often felt that the Hartnell era "can't get no respect." Smith's Troughtonesque attire is fun, too.

Whatever the new interior looks like, I hope it has an organic feel to it and not yet another boring, sci-fi, antiseptic metallic technological feel to it like we've all seen in five million TV shows and movies.

(Though if they do change the interior, it will create an interesting continuity question, since the current series has established that all Time Lord technology has that vaguely organic, orange-ish look about them.)

It looks a lot more like the laser screwdriver that The Master used in series three.

I've got to admit, Smith's outfit is growing on me, and even the new look of the TARDIS, but I can't help but think that they're changing too much too quickly. I'm hoping Smith's Doctor isn't going to be the "fighting" type. I always admired that about the Doctor, especially in the newer series, how he never actually engages in a physical fight, chosing brains over muscle (although looking at Smith, he might be knocked over by a gust of wind).

But yeah, I hope the amount of things they keep changing won't backfire, we're going to see a completely different Doctor Who from what we've been watching. And I hope to God that Karen takes that fucking stupid top off!

True dat. It's growing on me now, actually. The windows will take a bit more getting used to though.

I wonder where people in 1966 went to complain about the windows suddenly changing from white to blue? ;)

If fact IIRC they actually change not between stories but in "The War Machines" where they're still white in location scenes and blue in studio scenes!

I feel like I need to point out that any criticisms I've made of the design are minor - so very minor - and really not something I'm actually too bothered about. Even if they painted it yellow with polka dots and stuck a dildo on top... it's the stories and characters I'm interested in. Everything else is gravy.

You forgot Nine slamming a guard into a wall in Bad Wolf and Ten having a big ol' swordfight with the Sycorax leader in The Christmas Invasion (not to mention all that Venusian aikido from Three) but yeah, generally the Doctor shouldn't be a man of physical violence. The Moff, it would seem, agrees with you:

Steve Moffat said:
...you've got to give the Doctor an appropriate thing to fight – if it's just 'evil', then all you have is a war, and the Doctor isn't much of a warrior. I would prefer Captain Jack or the Brigadier or someone like that if you have a war – the Doctor retires to the lab and whoever he's hired to be the gung-ho one brings the bazookas out. So to keep the Doctor at the centre at the drama you should have a mystery, and to keep the story alive, you keep the mystery going for as long as possible - only solve it at the end of the story, at the last possible moment, in an ingenious and clever way that demonstrates the Doctor's brilliance.

Sweet.

I love it in a kind of oldy but newy way.

Although, after seeing these images today, im beginning to think there is a reason, a Moffat reason, to these changes, especially the Tardis exterior. Not a personal production reason, but a story reason as to why, as i said in the other thread, its Moffat were talking about and anythings possible with him.

I love it though, i really do.

My mind is still working on Elevens outfit though, still, it looks cool.

The sonic screwdriver, well, it looks similar to the old one, but its definately not the laser screwdriver, its way too small. Its a nice little change, i suppose it prevents things frim getting a little stale really.

Be interesting to see the interior, thats if its a reddesign or Eleven has stumbled on One or Twos tardis somewhere, maybe.

And also ££££

Character Options will be gearing up their Chinese sweatshops to churn out new Police Boxes and Sonics before long.

I was wondering, a little earlier. That sonic screwdriver looks a lot like the one River had - perhaps she's going to be a recurring character throughout the Eleventh's run, I'm guessing that River could become a primary companion and even see him regenerate in to the Twelfth Doctor, which would explain her knowledge on regeneration (although, he could have just told her). I highly doubt that these two episodes will be the last of River Song, I highly doubt she'll be sent to the library when this has been concluded. To me, it wouldn't be a good idea, as it's not far enough in the Doctor's personal timeline.

There's no subtlety too it. I hope I am proved wrong.

Regarding the grain and color, I'm sure they screen tested this. It's not like you're noticing something that they wouldn't have checked out before filming. It'll look fine on your TV screen.

I'm fine with the new box. It's no big deal.
