The "New" TARDIS revealed!

The only problem I have with it, is that it looks brand new! That might be the point, with the Time Lords reportedly coming back, perhaps The Doctor steals a brand new TARDIS and just has it look like a new police box (I do actually like that story!).

Now, the TARDIS has been through a whole Time War, along with other things, and if it's as old as The Doctor claims it is, then it shouldn't look as clean as it does.

I like it, those white windows take us right back to the 60s Dr who, including the Cushing Who movies Tardis, which is almost identical to it apart from the blacked out windows and the white bright sign above the door.

I do have to admit the shiny new exterior does bother me a little. I like my Tardis a bit scruffy looking. Still, I love the idea that its gone back to the Hartnell design.

I should actually be grateful. Now the color matches exactly the Tardis model I have tucked away in the closet. Now I won't have to repaint it.

Looks like a TARDIS to me, a tad too new looking but will wait to see what it looks like on film--HD obviously has had an impact I think.

Why not? It's not a real police box, after all. And if the interior can change, and the exterior can change, why can't the exterior colour be changed, as well?

It was painted red in The Happiness Patrol and it looked horrible.

I actually forgot the number of times the TARDIS exterior was modified during the run of the original series. I don't recall it being the same shade of blue throughout...

Ah everyone knows the time vortex contains miscropic chrono-suds that gently clean and repair a time travelling vessel, so no matter how old and detned it gets, a quick trip of a few hundred years leaves it looking like new

It looks okay...bulkier or is it just me? The costume which I'll post about here is meh but it could grow on me. I wanted them to use the promo pic one with the casual suit and scarf and the big hair! I really really liked that. Karen looks really hot though. This is going to be a young looking series...

As far as these photos are concerned: it looks like its made of PVC. It also looks like a cheap ass replica that someone knocked together for an exhibition, or something.

It's not a dealbreaker by any stretch though and until we see it in a finished episode with proper lighting, grading and framing, we don't know shit.

Having said that, the current TARDIS is so badass in comparison, it's hard to look at the new one without thinking "fugly".

I don't get the people who are saying they can't see the difference, but we all seem to be in agreement that it's not exactly a huge issue so... tits.

Skip five years back in time and RTD is getting death threats for approving a Police Box that's the wrong size and shape and with the wrong windows.

Skip forward a few years and if it changes again people will be wisihng for the good old Moffat box back...

As part of the redesign, it looks as though the lamp on top of the box is no longer a garden lantern, but instead a fresnel, like the original design.

I like it.

This photo makes the Police Box look far less huge. I can't help but think the others were a bit of an optical illusion.

I had no idea they were going to redo the TARDIS prop itself. Since it looks like it's "new" (eg. a throwback to the 60's), I'm now really jonesing to see what the interior looks like. Please, please, please, please, please be an updated version of the original...pretty please!
