Agreed. Interest is definitely stoked.

Correct me if I'm wrong, though, but wasn't there a rumor going around that the Klingons on DSC would always be speaking their native language, and would never be heard in English? Or am I (once again) misremembering?
I can't remember if they said they will never be heard in English, but they producers/writers have said that all of the Klingons' scenes will be in their language. I think all of the stuff we've seen with them speaking English is either just for the trailers, or from scenes where they're talking to human/Starfleet characters. I think they're probably just trying to avoid scaring people with a bunch of scenes of people speaking in a weird language with subtitles in the promotional stuff. This kind of thing happens a lot with movies in foreign languages here in the US, all of the trailers will avoid dialouge scenes, and will usually just be montages with the occaisional piece of text.

The augment thing already happened a century prior to this. I don't see why they would just now be getting in a huff about it.

I imagine they mean culturally - the creeping influence of the Federation. The risk of being declawed, diluted, overrun by the ideas of these outsiders. That would fit with the idea of TUC as a touchstone.

We know something Burnham does is a trigger, but going back, you can see why it could be used as an excuse to persuade people to rally together, to take on the Federation.

TUC as a touchstone, Nick Meyer gave us the end of Klingon-Federation hostilities, and now he can show us how it all kicked off.

There was talk about "Balance of Terror" being important too, so I expect there to be lots of scenes from the Klingon point of view, and tense battles.

They are coming. Atom by atom they will silence us. Cell by cell our souls shall become their's. We must fight for one thing above all: to remain Klingon.
I'm not sure this is done intentionally or not, but especially with the new teaser it really sounds as though they might be going with Klingons as a sort of stand-in for the alt-right/conservative part of society. With all the talk about the fear of being diluted, overrun and replaced by others they really remind me of people in our real world that spew hate for everything that's different because it allegedly is coming to destroy their culture and heritage. I must say, if that's the angle the writers are truly going for, I'm really excited and applaud the effort.

Star Trek and Mass Effect's common philosophy - this is why I want the show to be about making peace with a hostile civilization.

I think he was being metaphorical when talking about atom by atom, cell by cell.
He was actually objecting to the Federation's transporter technology ;)

You beat me to it, I was going to say it was a Klingon Transporter Propaganda piece.

I'm not sure if that's intentional either but definitely crossed my mind as well given recent events. It is timely either way.

OH MY GOD. The Klingons are stand-ins for Trekkies hatefully raging against anything that makes the slightest change to Trek lore!!

Has anyone seen the new Klingon promo on Facebook? What's all this stuff about "cell by cell"??

No. It says "Atom by atom"* and "cell by cell."

*(That really doesn't make sense from any perspective I can think of.)

Either:

1) The Augment virus. Highly unlikely. Not enough people watched Enterprise to remember that, and outside of Trekkies this is a complete unknown.

2) (Part of) The Federation wanting to completely annhilate the klingons as a species, probably with a bio-weapon/supervirus. Most likely Fungus-based, with Jasin Isaacs/Lucius Malfoy being the "crazy captain"/surprise villain to perform that operation who needs to be stopped in the finale of the 1st season.

I took the poll on this thread, about your gut reaction to the new Klingons. I don't like it. The first time I saw the 'new' klingons in TMP and later on and on TNG I was able to accept them better (though I wasn't sure how they were going to explain the difference in appearance from TOS to the new look. Did they ever state that or was it hush hush?)

The voice in the trailer with the Klingons reminded me of Krall from ST Beyond. I guess, like with the rest of the new series, we'll have to wait and see when it airs. I am looking forward to it.
