Re: Ok, someone had to do it... The New Enterprise in 3D!
Thanks... I think it will grow on you.
hmm. maybe I need to do a comparion and and an overlay shot. I admit that there are a few things that don't match up exactly, but it's pretty close, at least as close I can get with my limited abilities.
Nicely done, MadMan1701A; you seem to be getting the contours and proportions just right. Unfortunately, I have to agree that a good model doesn't make me think it's a good design; with the additional angles, I'm even more convinced that the proportions and layout just don't combine into a ship that looks as good as the original, let alone 'better' or 'more believable.' I don't mind change - I just hope that 'change' is 'improvement,' and I don't see any improvement in this design.
But good work on the model![]()

?
Ok, props for modelling the thing, but it doesn't look anything like the publicity shot. This rendering makes the ship look bloody awful. The saucer needs work and the nacelle struts need to be straighter.
I know there is a lot of work to do here, but I really like the new design, even though I'm not 100 percent sold on the nacelles...yet.
This looks ugly, wheras the new design...in my opinion, doesnt.
