    ILM references.

    That means the TMP refit.

It didn't occur to anyone that they were referencing the wrong damn ship?

Judging from what I can see while building this thing, They took the 1701 Refit, and backed the technology up from that, to make it seem a little more primitive. That holds true for the outsides, and maybe even the bridge, because it looks like the turbolift doors are in the same place, and they just added some stations here and there. You could say that with some advancement, the stations weng away. :)

I think they've done a great job, really. I think if it looked closer to the old 1701, people would be complaining just as vocally that they didn't spruce it up. :)

All the textures applied, except the dish...

    OK, Here's another update.

I think the dish looks pretty good. I took the pattern from the large Kelvin Images that we had.

Well, it's not like on Monday we'll suddenly have full official orthos from Paramount or something, so don't sweat it too much.

Yeah, I hope so too! Sorry if I kinda hijacked your thread, Madman, your model is obviously way better than my little sketch!

Thanks, me too. I just very lightly traced over a pic of the TOS ship to get the proportions right, then messed with it until it looked like the thing in the official image.

Looking good, but isn't there some sort of...something under the torp launchers? Some sort of protrusion? I have no idea what it's supposed to be...

Y'know, I wasn't entirely sold when I saw the original image released, but this really does look pretty good. Nice work!

I can't tell, it's in too much shadow. I think it's just an undercut, like mine has. I just have more light in the area. :)

If this is what we get in the movie, then I'll be happy with it because what I saw in that picture I was not.

Nice work Madman  , she looks 100% better from the angles you chose as compared to the official image release. The only things I can say that I still really hate are those warp nacelles, YUCK, and the "underbite" JJ gave the secondary hull. Everything else kind of grows on you, even if it's not the canon Enterprise from Kirks younger days. Keep it up man, I can't wait to see your work completed.

MadMan -- just a quick question for you: What program are you using for this?

Thanks, it's almost getting there. It'll be done today, then I'm going to build that starbase. :)

Blender 2.45 for the 3D, and Photoshop CS3 for the textures.

This image may help for the deflector texture, as well as the shape of the engineering hull.

Yeah, I saw that, and the main thing it shows me I've done wrong is how the "neck" blends into the Secondary Hull. I made mine kind of bend outward, but not far enough. Not sure if I'm going to fix it, at this point. :)

    Thread stretch!

You left off that wrinkle on the neck in your model, that's probably the thing that looks blended from the front.

Yeah. I don't like that wrinkle. :) Maybe I'll add in it in the future revision of this model, after the movie comes out.

STXI Enterpise, Finished! Lots of images...

Greetings everyone that was following my WIP thread, I thought I would start a new one, so you didn't have to wade to the bottom to get to the finished pics.

    Here we go...

The angle we saw from the promo photo.

    So, how did I do?

I think this is as close as I can get at this point, with my skill level and the references that I have. :)

Looks good to me. When looking at the ship head on in the trailer the pylons appeared to be curved there as well though. Also, the white band with the circle in the middle on the bussard collectors have been gone since one of your earlier versions. Speaking of the collectors, even when lit up I imagine they should be clear or translucent, and act as light sources, as well as the deflector dish. But the basic shape is very nicely done. It's made the ship grow on me.
