The new captain.

The one I keep hoping for is Swedish actress Sofia Helin (from Broen, the original version of The Bridge): experienced in detective and historical fantasy genres, able to handle action, plays crazy without being over the top, great range.

As for the sexuality of the captain, I hope they make it up as they go.

I like John Carrol Lynch, but I don't see him headlining a TV show. Supporting cast or guest star, sure.

Oh, yeah.

They're both former Star Trek actors, although I'm more familiar with Lynch from his appearance in Fargo.

Casey Biggs was, of course, Damar from DS9. And Roxann Dawson's ex-husband.

They're both white guys, and probably too old (60 and 52) for your tastes. And kind of random suggestions in my opinion. None of them appear to be "nerd idols" as far as I can see.

Ming-Na Wen, Michelle Yeoh or Ziyi Zhang in the Captain's chair perhaps, a strong female lead of Asian origin with a great presence on screen (I always find myself focusing on them whenever watching anything they're on, I am torn whenever I watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) whilst also displaying great grace whilst whooping ass.

This would be great.

With Sofia Helin as first officer!

I'd like to see a Latino captain. I'd like to see a decent female ship captain. Not sure if CBS will try it, though. Ho hum.

EDIT: You know what, maybe an Indian (Native American). What about Angie Harmon? Maybe as a recurring guest role, or with limited appearances per episode, who films her parts several eps at a time.

Graham Greene would be an interesting choice, but as with some others mentioned, maybe more than a mite too old at this point.

Oh by the way, Dennis, he's an actor (notable supporting roles in films and such), just in case there might be some consternation over his identity. :techman:

I like Graham Greene. However, according to Wikipedia his age is 64.

One thing I have to say-it may seem timid to some if the next captain in another human. However, I think it will be pushing the boundries if the she is neither white nor male. (Sisko wasn't white, and Janeway wasn't male, so a nonwhite woman would be the next hurdle). For The Powers That Be, this may be stretching things to the limit.

I also find interesting the idea of casting women as both the captain and the first officer. That would be pushing the boundries a bit more.

Re: uniforms

BTW, no more catsuits and no more miniskirts. The uniforms should make sense in terms of work/duties.

It depends on era. I'd love to see a uniform inspired by the DS9/Voyager coveralls, but with its own unique flavor relating to the rest of the show.
I happened to love the ENT uniforms the best after the TNG design, but thats probably nostalgia talking.

I didn't particularly care for ENT, but I agree about their uniforms; those were the first I could actually buy into believing would be the all-day working clothes of a crew of a futuristic starship.
