I'm 26 as well and was fairly good at art in high school (but kinda left it alone for few years; perhaps unwisely).

Right now I'm painting a T-Rex.
Completed a painting I've been working on for some time, and put him up for sale on my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/thestrangequark.
It makes me sad to sell him, but I need the money. I just hope someone likes him enough to help me pay my rent!

^Thanks. It's an interesting experience learning to paint after using pencil, pen, and marker for so many years. I'd not picked up a paintbrush since smearing tempera or Crayola watercolors on construction paper in elementary school, and I've fount it a completely different experience to drawing. I still have a lot to learn.

I thought it'd be fun to delve into the world of Steampunk, and, as I can't afford to buy any more canvass, I've temporarily left off painting and have done a couple of Steampunk fashion illustrations (prints of which will be up for sale on my Etsy shop shortly #shamelessplug). I had a lot of fun doing them--I think I'll do more!

Why thank you. As you can, compared to my last portrait I'm learning (and it seems like I'm learning faster).
How while back? It's not photo realistic but I love the soft warm tones and the expression it conveys.

Thank you. Yeah, I wasn't really going for photo-realistic...I think I drew that in about 5 minutes. I'm not exactly sure how long ago I drew it...I think it's about 3 years old.
ETA: I have done photo realistic drawings before, but I don't often do them, because I generally get bored with them. Here are the portraits I did of the Star Trek Captains for the comic I made a few years ago, and they're pretty realistic -- not the most photo realistic I can do, because I was going for a bit of stylization, but more of an example of that type of drawing:
