Game The Most Disliked Second Season Episode

I can't believe I'm saving something from Enterprise -- I have long considered year two of ENT to be the worst season of Star Trek ever produced -- but "The Crossing" is fine. The rest of these offend me.

ENT: "Shockwave, Part II"
DIS: "Perpetual Infinity"
DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1"
ST: "Ask Not"

Hmm. Perpetual Infinity has the awesome Sonya Sohn as Burnhams' mother, so I'll save it.

Gotta save DSC "Such Sweet Sorrow"

It wasn't perfect, but it was a fun build-up to the final episode

Interesting to watch you guys scrape the bottom of the barrel, looking for the least of however many evils.

So be it. Shockwave part II is the losing entry in this very very VERY long contest.

It was a fun one, though. S2 for a lot of these series was really quite good. It made me want to go back and watch a lot of these episodes that I haven't seen for a while, or perhaps re-evaluate ones that came off the table earlier than I would have expected.

I watched it very recently. I didn't hate it by any means, but it somehow stopped my Enterprise marathon dead in it's tracks.

There's worse surely? Quite a surprising result.

I'm surprised that The Omega Glory, Shades of Gray, and A Night in Sickbay didn't make it to the end, but yeah it's always like that.

That's part of the fun! "Oi, that one over there is a real steaming pile, but dig in deep enough and be sure to wear long enough gloves while doing so, and there's really a diamond in the rough, possibly due in part to the pressure of all the muck around it..."

More like rooting around in a looted supermarket, after the apocalypse. You see canned peas, old Brussels sprouts, mystery meat, and other really gross foods, but you're starving, so you take what seems the least offensive.

There are always episodes in these games that come off early that make me want to vomit. Like, how does someone take "Aquiel" off before "The Doomsday Machine?" But, examples like that happen all the time. It used to make me crazy, but now I just look at it as part of the fun, and it's really insightful as to how people's different tastes and biases cause them to chose.

In a lot of cases, for me, VOY and ENT episodes get left behind because I am not nearly as good at knowing them by name as I am with the other series, for example. So, rather than research if ENT "The Expanse" was better than DSC "Choose Your Pain," beaause I have no idea which episode "The Expanse" even is, I'll just vote for the latter since I know exactly what that one is.

QUESTION: What was wrong with "Ask Not?" I seem to remember that one being pretty intense, but I haven't really re-watched any of the Short Treks, so maybe I'm forgetting something?

Personally, "ASK NOT" is not really bad, it's just a very weak premise. Anson Mount helps elevate this vignette, but there have been far better stories SHORT TREKS have told.

For me, it's such a wasted opportunity. A minuscule running time just to mind-fuck some random character we never see again. My one justification at the time was assuming she was being set up for "Strange New Worlds" and would be fascinating on that show -- nope!

And I think the craft is pretty poor on it -- terribly written dialogue.

Still, I was a little surprised how close it came to joining the double winners club.

And they were all saved by different people. :bolian: "Shades Of Gray" was me! I love it (now).

I might well have saved it too. It's not a major favorite, but I think it's fine for what it is: an episode created on a reduced timetable and a shoestring budget.

Virtually every episode in the franchise can be defended, with some notorious exceptions.

I've even seen the "notorious exceptions" receive some love here and there.

- It's the same for me, just the other way around* - with the exception of a couple of episodes, I've only seen DSC once and couldn't tell you what happens in which episode, so I'll save something I do know (unless all those left that I know are real stinkers).

* Except for season 3 of ENT - It's my least favourite season of ENT mainly because of the ongoing doom & gloom Xindi storyline, and everything all gets blended together and difficult to remember, nevermind actually like.

True. And they are few in number, both the amount of episodes and the defenders of them.
- Ha ha! Yes, I haven't seen anyone else rush to save "Precious Cargo" like I do :rommie:
