Well, a lot of my favourites got saved while I was sleeping, but there's still quite a few left.

Right now, I'm gonna save Quark, because he's one of the most human characters in the TNG-ENT era. And I actually mean that in a positive/hopeful way. I mean yes, he was a cut-throat capitalist pig a lot of the time, but he developed a lot over the course of the series, and when it really mattered he usually erred at the side of family rather than profit.

I'll save the Mistress of the Winter Constellations, D'Vana Tendi. What a great character! A delightful example of how to make relentless positivity interesting.

They've also done a great job of using Tendi to truly explore the Orions for the first time -- given that they date to "The Cage", we were due!

I loved Kes. I remain outraged by how she was dumped from the series, especially for such dubious reasons. I consider "Warlord" and "Before & After" among the Voyager high points. Jennifer Lien is fantastic in the role, exhibiting a talent well beyond her years.

Kes was a character of boundless potential, and it's infuriating the writers/producers missed it because they were focused on all the wrong things.

I'm going to save Deep Space Nine's Jadzia Dax. Sure she was a little boring in the first season and a half, but then her Curzon side kicked in and she became the most fun of the DS9 crew. If you need a scientist, an advisor, a warrior or a Tongo player she's got the skills and experience to get the job done, and she throws the best parties too.

Well, then I will save the cooler Dax; Ezri, in my eyes, was a huge improvement over Jadzia. We learned much more about her character, she was an interesting, solid character who had difficulties and sturggles rather than Jadzia who just was good at everything. And I love that piece of her mind about the Klingon Empire she gave Worf. Finally one character from the TNG-ENT who didn't mindlessly fangirl/fanboy the Klingons!
The only thing bad about Ezri is that she was much too good of a character to only use for a single season. She should have shown up several seasons earlier.
