Game The Most Disliked Regular Star Trek Character

Something else I enjoyed while putting this list together -- it made me realize the franchise has been around so long that the concept of what a series regular is has changed multiple times during it's existence.

I've been thinking about how to do recurring characters. After this cycle in General Trek, I have a few DS9-specific ones to play as well, and I was gonna do a DS9 Recurring Character game in there.

Possibly my craziest list is the Recurring Alien one, that's coming up. :bolian: It has expanded massively since it was last played, as LD and Disco have brought back so many previously one-off aliens within the last two years.

Next up will be another episode elimination game. I'll have it up either tonight, or tomorrow morning (ugh, what an annoying day to lose an hour).

MOST DISLIKED WINNERS, 2022
MIRROR UNIVERSE EPISODE: DS9, Season 6: "Resurrection"
HOLODECK EPISODE: VOY, Season 6: "Spirit Folk"
2-PART/DOUBLE EPISODE: VOY, Season 7: "Flesh And Blood"
VISIT TO EARTH'S PAST: ENT, Season 4: "Storm Front, Part II"
REGULAR CHARACTER: PRO, Drednok

It might not be a bad idea to set a limit for number of options (20-25, maybe). I think a big part of why Prodigy characters were eliminated so late is their physical position on the list.

Those are cool ideas. Without actually checking, I think DS9 must have way more recurring characters than the others.

For myself, I just haven't got around to Prodigy yet, so I don't know who the characters are.

I like the sprawling huge lists! :D

I try to vary the length of the lists, I'm aiming for a mix of longer & shorter games, since they tend to play very differently.

I do anticipate running characters alphabetically the next time, I'm curious to see how that influences it, though it doesn't surprise me that the Prodigy characters were the last to go (my opening joke about Murf notwithstanding). They're the characters we've spent the least time with, and they are from a kids show, so it stands to reason the same fondness just isn't there in the fanbase yet.

Personally, it's OK for me if factors like that influence the gameplay, in that chaotic randomness is kind of built in. That's a big part of my attraction to these -- this far into my fandom, I've had enough discussions about what my overall best and worst episodes are. So I was just looking for a way to slice up sub-sets of episodes in other ways, and then say "OK, what do I love and hate from this collection?" I think my first thought was to just do the "Visit To Earths Past" as a one-off. But... then it kept going. I think we did 50 games in 2020, but a lot of that was Covid lockdown mania, I don't expect to make it that long this time. :bolian:

A generation from now there will be Trek fans who grew up with them as kids yoinking them straight out of the running in a game like this.
