The Most Disliked Episode of VOY, 2023 Edition - Finals...

In a few hours, it will.

It always sends me to sleep, but obviously, that's the name of the game. :techman:

Just logged on to see that time was about to expire. I considered being evil and voting for something else just to prolong the round another two days - but the light side won out! New round.

Voting for Non Sequitur

I think it's a decent episode, showing us what Harry's and Tom's life could have been like, had events just transpired a little differently.

The only problem I spot with it is the way Harry acts. I have two main problems with that.

The first one is that he unconditionally wants to go back to voyager. In itself, I can understand that as a form of survivor's guilt complex. I could be feeling the same - No, _I'm_ the one supposed to be lost, I can't let my friend (or even any stranger) take the bullet I was supposed to take! The way my own conscience works, I might be tempted to try to return to Voyager too.

However what puzzles me is that he doesn't actually even attempt to think things through. Such as: (How) do I actually help lost Voyager by going back to it? Couldn't staying here, and informing Starfleet that at least in my reality, Voyager was not destroyed but lost in the DQ, encourage them to not give up on Voyager in this reality? After all that's a shot they hadn't got in Harry's prime reality at that point, and by going back he's wasting that opportunity. Going back is perhaps helping Daniel Byrd but not the other 150-ish people on board. It might have kickstarted Pathfinder a few years early in that reality. After all the EMH was also able to encourage Starfleet to not give up in Message in a Bottle.

The second thing that puzzles me is how he goes about it. Had he only had a bit more patience, he might have been able to find out about Voyager and explaining his situation to the Starfleet Brass without everyone thinking he has gone mad. After all, temporal and other anomalies are encountered in the Star Trek Universe every other tuesday (those tuesdays when tractor beams aren't being installed).

That said, I still think it's a comparatively decent episode.

While @at Quark's had some really good points about "Non Sequitur", it's still tough for me to reconcile that Harry didn't even seem tempted to accept the new reality, despite what it came with. I wonder if he had enacted differently if he had known what the ensuing 6 years would throw at him.

So, still sticking with Unimatrix Zero. At least it has Janeway beating down a Borg drone with a bat'leth.

I almost wish you did listen to the dark side... I would have been interested in seeing if any heads would explode.:biggrin:

(Besides, the dark side has cookies... it's hard to resist cookies. ;))

My vote this round is for "RETROSPECT", same reasons as before.

"The Disease" isn't even a bottom-half episode of the 172 for me.

"Non Sequitur." I liked the look at Tom and Harry's connection -- Harry does have a way of bringing out the best in Tom, even when they barely know one another. That said, yes, Harry's obsession with returning to Voyager despite his better life on Earth seems unlikely. Though I suppose survivor's guilt could do it. And the fact that he got put on what amounts to house arrest for pretty much nothing would make close association with Starfleet Command seem less appealing.

In a vote between the sick Borg story or the Aftersk00l Speshul about STDs, I'll vote for the cooties every time. "The Disease" gets another one... vote, that is.

"Non Sequitur" again, same reasons as before, plus one: considering the way he was being treated by Starfleet, I no longer find it so inexplicable that Harry was eager to get away from Starfleet Headquarters.
