When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. And enjoy! :bolian:

I will give my first point to "Birthright, Part II". I defend Worf's choices here because at the end of the day, his culture IS very different from ours. Can't judge his views and choices using our ethics as a barometer.

I don't hate all of these, but all of them have at least one key aspect I actively dislike, except "Suddenly Human." I think this is a perfectly fine, solid episode built around a compelling moral dilemma. Strong guest cast.

I don't even think what Worf did is wrong by OUR ethics.

Children raised in captivity, not told what their real possibilities were, may be happy, but they're certainly not free. Those children had the right to know the options available to them and then make their own choice.

A point to "Suddenly Human" for having a relatable and interesting conflict.

Adding a point to save... oh geez, it's like giving an assist to either syphilis or herpes or blueberry pizza with broccoli-infused crust with green cheese from parts unknown...

So the broccoli blueberry pizza, aka "Shades of Gray", gets a +1 from me. Remove the clip show elements and there's a dark suspenseful story that puts crewmembers at palpable risk that deserved its own plot by far and not relegated to a clip show.

Point to Masterpiece Society. While it isn't a great episode, the B story where LaForge is working with the woman from the planet is very solid. The dilemma is about having freedom or being forced to live in a restrictive society.

While the basic story of Suddenly Human may have been done a bit better by DS9's "Cardassians", the episode isn't that bad really, it's just an okayish story that suffers from a few cringeworthy scenes with Wesley and the guest teen.

I'll save Suddenly Human then with my vote, giving it 4. It's not as bad as some of the others here, more average really.

I hate Suddenly Human with a passion so I don't understand how it got eliminated so quickly but to each their own as they say.

I am voting for Masterpiece Society, it's dull and boring but not as bad as the rest of these.

The Masterpiece Society is guilty of not doing anything with its set-up beyond "Selective breeding bad, Prime Directive good!", but otherwise it's an okay episode.

There are much worse episodes than The Masterpiece Society, which at least fulfills the Enterprise's mandate to meet new people on planets.

Birthright again, same reasons.

It's the weakest of the two parters, but I like the way it challenges Worf's prejudices and ideas about Klingon culture, and also explores (Albeit in a clumsy way) ideas of positive vs negative liberty. Whether you can truly make choices for yourself without a full set of information, and whether being born with a certain heritage gives you the birthright to live within its history and traditions.

I’ll vote for Birthright II this time around. It’s dull and about two seasons too late, but there are far worse episodes here.

Hero Worship isn't the greatest but it's better than the others. The scene where the banana split hits Wesley in the face is about as poorly edited as I have seen on a television show.
