The MOST Disliked Episode of TNG - Final Part...

I'm going to save Angel One. While it's a low quality episode it does have a message about non-interference and the rights and wrongs of other justice systems and relative morals. Definitely TNG.

So a new round begins...

Up The Long Ladder - 0
The Outrageous Okona - 0
Violations - 0

My vote this round goes to "Violations" for the same reason as last round.

Up The Long Ladder - 0
The Outrageous Okona - 0
Violations - 1

I'll give Violations a point this round as well. It's one of those eps that is a little off and doesn't quite land, but their heart was in the right place... I like what they were going for, if not exactly where they arrived.

Up The Long Ladder - 0
The Outrageous Okona - 0
Violations - 2

Violations is unpleasant to watch but at least the concept is interesting.

I'll vote for "Up the Long Ladder." I enjoyed this episode immensely. There are a lot of good guest characters, I also enjoyed Picard's belly laugh and declaration, "Sometimes you just have to bow to the absurd!" I also find it interesting to compare the reactions of the Picard's crew, and Janeway's crew when faced with an invitation to clone themselves. Janeway's crew was all too happy to provide genetic samples for cloning on the Demon Planet in order to allow life to continue...while Picard's crew valued their uniqueness and could not accept that solution to the problem.

An aside not related to this contest:
(I would not be surprised if the human cloning issue become real within in a decade. I lament that our society does not have a population wide, intellectual and spiritual exploration of the more difficult issues of progress and technology that could fundamentally alter mankind ...I think we often tend to just to moving forward (I get it, I love science and technology!) without a complete analysis of the ramifications. Sometimes we can't put the genie back in the bottle. I think that, as a part of progress, we should routinely include a thoughtful, international dialog among lay people, biologists, philosophers, and futurists etc...so that we take these big steps in a intentional, cautious, calculated, conscious, fully considered manner.)

I will cast the saving point for Violations. (Looks like previous post removed a point)

We're down to bottom 20% episodes here, and Violations is the only non bottom-5 episode left.

Sorry, I was distracted while typing my post, and by the time I posted it, another point had been added. lol. I didn't know how to edit it.

Since you can vote once per round, no problem with finishing one round then voting immediately in the next, right?

I will finally vote Up The Long Ladder. It's probably the 4th or 5th worst episode in the series, but I quote:

His emotions suggest that he is mischievous, irreverent and somewhat brazen. And some other things... The word that seems to describe him best is "rogue."

Rogue? Accessing "rogue." Cad, knave, rake, rascal, scoundrel, villain.

Yes, all of that, but he shows no malevolence, or ill will.

You're a droid and I'm a noid.

And thank you for beaming me here and inviting me to see a truly beautiful woman. You have the majestic carriage and loveliness that could surely be traced back to the noble families who once ruled romantic lands with benevolent and tender hands.

I'm sure you said that to many ladies and it was no more true then, than it is now.

Of course, But it's how I say it that's most important. The feeling, the warmth, the attraction I have for you, the attraction that we share.

Truly a gold medal performance, in the sport of vomitrocious writing.

I will choose Up the Long Ladder again, for the same reasons.

Up The Long Ladder - 1
The Outrageous Okona - 0

My Irish ancestors would haunt me for the rest of my life if I didn't do my level best to kick that pejorative piece "Up the Long Ladder" straight down into the pit. This vote's for you, Great-Grandma O'Mullen!

Up The Long Ladder - 2
The Outrageous Okona - 1

I'm giving a point to Up The Long Ladder, it's a terrible Star Trek episode that pushes a particular opinion rather than making you consider different points of view on a topic, but it's still better than the other one.

Up The Long Ladder - 3
The Outrageous Okona - 1

I will give a point to Up The Long Ladder, thereby making The Outrageous Okona the "winner." The main plots of both episodes are absolutely awful, but at least the cloning subplot in Up The Long Ladder is somewhat interesting, and that episode also lacks any characters who are quite as grating as Okona.

And the 2018 'winner' of tye Most Disliked episode of TNG goes to "The Outrageous Okona".

Interesting coincidence... the 'winner' of years past was also a season 2 episode. (Personally, I think season 2 gets a bad rap, overall.)

Thank you all for playing. I will be starting DEEP SPACE NINE shortly.

I rewatched Okona last year and thought: this is so much worse than I remembered! How is it not always mentioned among the worst TNG episodes! So a deserving winner in my book... :)

Good work people. A deserved 'winner'...

Now that 'The Outrageous Okona' won, I'd like to ask a question I've seen asked here before:

How outrageous was Okona?
