The Most Disliked Episode of ENTERPRISE - Final Round...

I am almost persuaded to line up behind "Vanishing Point", but I'll go with "Extinction" instead. It makes a slightly better showing of constructing a coherent episode. "Vanishing Point" has relieved itself of the burden of even trying, with that cop-out ending.

"TERRA NOVA" - 0
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 2
"EXTINCTION" - 1
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I'm torn between two episodes... both are bad, but one is slightly better.

A point for "EXTINCTION".

"TERRA NOVA" - 0
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 2
"EXTINCTION" - 2
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I hate "VANISHING POINT" for its "it was all a dream" ending so I'll vote for "Extinction", even though it's a double-whammy, IE a rip off of a bad episode: Voyager's "Favorite Son"!

"TERRA NOVA" - 0
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 2
"EXTINCTION" - 3
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I dunno, for my money Mayweather is the one where every time he comes to the fore, the episode fails. The only one that kind of escapes that curse is "Detained." There are a lot of lousy Trip episodes, but I think that's more a function of Enterprise being a show that is (at least) half lousy episodes, and with Trip being one of the most featured leads...

I have too much critic point for ENT, but if I am honest, I think they gave us their best during they challenged by CBS, UPN and BnB. None them was fair with crew, story and fans. I consider all the rip-offs/remarkes as wasted opportunities -Doctor's Orders and E2 are exceptions- but I won't call ENT is a show at least half lousy episodes.

I pick the Extinction, since it showed us again how Trip can be great at command. I didn't like the last scene but Phlox should be mentioned here too.
So go on:
TERRA NOVA" - 0
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 0
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

VP wins my point by default. It's really bad but the three others are just awful!!!

"TERRA NOVA" - 0
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 1
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

This is a terrible episode, but at least the ending didn't ruin the entire episode like "VANISHING POINT" did. I reluctantly give "TERRA NOVA" my point this round.

"TERRA NOVA" - 1
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 1
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I'll go "Vanishing Point" this time, which I do hate, but at least it gave Hoshi some screentime. The other three pose a much larger struggle for me to sit thru.

"TERRA NOVA" - 1
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 2
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I'll vote for Vanishing Point again, same reasons as before.

"TERRA NOVA" - 1
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"VANISHING POINT" - 3
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

Vanishing Point is saved, same reasons as before.

And I'll cast a vote for Terra Nova, which may be stupefyingly dull and contain some of the show's most idiotic writing, but at least isn't as outright unbearable as the other two.

"TERRA NOVA" - 1
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

I guess I'll do "Terra Nova" too? As executed it's intolerable, but I suppose the basic underlying idea contains more promise than the premises of the other two.

"TERRA NOVA" - 2
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

TERRA NOVA is at the most a forgettable, kind of failed episode but the other two are on purpose awful, dreadful, terrible episodes.

"TERRA NOVA" - 3
"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 0

"TERRA NOVA" is a goner.

I'll give my final point to "THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." because I think PC is worse. The Trip/ alien bimbo du jour "romance" is idiotic through and through and doesn't belong in a sci.fi. episode.

"PRECIOUS CARGO" - 0
"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." - 1

If this thread were purely about the worst episode, I would judge Precious Cargo as the bottom of the barrel for Enterprise. However, in terms of the most disliked, I have to go with These Are The Voyages..., and here's why.

Precious Cargo is completely and utterly awful, but at the end of the day it's a stand-alone episode that has no real effect on the larger Star Trek canon. These Are The Voyages... not only usurped the spot of the series finale from the far better Demons/Terra Prime two-parter, it also destroyed the character development of damn near everyone in the main cast, then sidelined them in favour of two characters from an entirely different show, and for good measure killed off one of Enterprise's "big three" characters in the most asinine, underwhelming manner possible.

And worse still, had it not been for the success of the Kelvin movies, which in turn resulted in Discovery and the subsequent relaunch of the TV side of the franchises, this dumpster fire of an episode might well have been the last piece of televised Star Trek any of us ever saw.

So yeah, sorry for the essay, but that's why I have to say that TATV is my most disliked episode, and give the point to save Precious Cargo.

Thank you @BigDaveX !

TATV for me not an ENT episode, not even a Trek episode. It is rage of BnB, it is insult of Les Moonves to all Trek people. TATV is antipole of everything what Trek means to me. Just irreverence, nothing less.

My Trek fandom started to falter at season 5 of Voyager, and was finished off by "Precious Cargo" -- that is literally the episode that got me to stop watching entirely. But, I'm going to vote to save it. Because while "Precious Cargo" killed Trek for me, for awhile, TATV killed Trek for everyone! It really is hard to imagine a way in which TATV could have been worse. (In fact, after "Cargo", TATV may be the next time I watched Enterprise. At the time, that seemed to really affirm my decision to quit!)

Now for my final vote.

And I am saving "PRECIOUS CARGO". There is nothing that saves this episode, but it is still better than "THESE ARE THE VOYAGES...", and here's why.

It was the last new episode after 18 years of STAR TREK. For a long time, I thought it wad the last thing I'd see for decades. It was a HORRIBLE way to end a series. It basically erased any character development from the previous sessons. It centered on guest characters that are FROM ANOTHER SHOW! But the worst part is that it was pimped as a "Valentine to the fans."

"THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." is by far the worst episode of ENTERPRISE, and I am here to say it officially 'wins' Most Disliked Episode of the series.

Thank you all for playing and voting.

I will not do one DISCOVERY, as it is still fairly new. I feel it should have a minimum of 3 seasons before we can do this.

Followup proposal... would it be fair to have a battle with the winners of Most Disliked from each series?

I know it would be very interesting, but not sure about fair, as not everyone has seen every series.

What do you all think?

I for one would like to see which one would get the prize in that contest.I just hope that every voter would at least make the effort of watching every one of these episodes before making their decision.

That's exactly the way I was going to vote.

These Are The Voyages is an unmitigated disaster of a finale. Precious Cargo is another terrible episode, but at least it's just an isolated episode.

I would like to know how trekbbs community will react of contest, but I can understand your reservation about fairness. Maybe it should be said "please vote only, if you already watched all these episodes, if not please only comment" . :mallory:
