The Most Disliked Episode of DS9, Finals - 2025 Edition...

Voting "PROPHET MOTIVE" this round.

Fun episode, and good use of the Prophets. (Interesting that this also makes Quark the only other lead to speak directly to the Prophets.) Plus, nice B story with Bashir.

There seems to be a fair consensus in the fandom that Worf was a Bad Dad. I do not agree with this. I think he struggled with parenting but that he was trying to do the right thing.

In "Sons and Daughters", there's a portrayal of exactly the kind of exasperation that most parents will have experienced at some time - and equally the problem of the teenager who thinks their parent's never going to understand. The more experienced Martok hands out some sensible advice and everything comes right in the end. Oh, that real life was like that!

Sons and Daughters is my next choice.

It makes Worf look like a bad parent but the other story involving Ziyal saves the episode.

My vote is for Prophet Motive. This episode has good comedic moments, especially the interactions between Quark and Rom. I think it is great they could take a comedic look at their premise: the Prophets. Making Worf look like a bad dad in Sons and Daughters doesn't bother me: approaches like that help me be a good dad. On the other hand, the episode seems to have flaws, and it is clear that the writing staff were not coordinating well with each other, as it seems that the story went over the same issues as the previous.

Next round, my vote is for Afterimage. Good performance from Robinson and De Boer, although the episode overall was too somber.

After however many rounds of voting Prophet Motive Im working through when it gets saved. What dark timeline is this?

I guess I will vote Afterimage this round but it is getting tougher now.

"Sons and Daughters" for me, again. Poor Ziyal being used by her father in his attempts to attract Kira.

"Afterimage" The Garak stuff is a problem but I quite like everything else Ezri around that.

To be fair, TNG gave plenty of episodes that didn't show him being... any better?

But it'll get my vote too as the Ziyal subplot did help things out!
