There probably isnt a big enough market to release two different kinds of box sets. What they should do is release an instruction manual with future DVD releases explaining to people how to watch the show

Or perhaps just do single disk releases at first, then when it's done do one mega boxed set with everything in the proper order.

Obviously that'd mean some would end up double dipping, but I think sci-fi fans have begun to expect that a little.

Or maybe do it for the inevitable Blu-Ray release.

No. That won't happen until they say, "Surprise! To really watch the show in it's true form the way it was meant to be viewed, you must play it backwards ... with 3D goggles on. Oh, and it'll only work on February 29th. Suckers!"

Considering Kadokawa did everything they could to SQUASH publicity of this airing, dont be surprised if this happens. i mean really, who in their right mind would intentionally keep one of the biggest tv releases of the year (for Japan at least) from receiving any plublicity at all. This is what you call insane

The more I think about it, the more I believe that the whole franchise is an elaborate art project and somehow we're actually the subjects.

I wonder though. It almost sort of makes sense to have a new box set that integrates the second season into the "new" broadcast order. I can't imagine that they'd go to the trouble of release two different box sets though?

I would definitely not buy TMOHS twice though. I already have the first series, special editions no less, all I'd want is the second one by itself. And that's assuming this is a full season and not just one episode, which nobody official has commented on yet.

Its really really really looking like there is going to be more episodes. Prior to the release of the episode, the stations airing it stated that the re-broadcast of Haruhi would be 26 episodes. The only way to account for those missing 13 episodes is if they made new episodes to fill the gaps.

Yeah, I've seen someone post a theoretical broadcast order... some more S1 episodes for the next month and then a new S2 arc happens before the final S1 episodes air.

I guess, as suggested above, if someone does do a Blu-Ray release... they could just do a combined season. My understanding is that they're airing everything in 720p right now.

That said, I wonder if haruhi gets the connotation behind wearing a shirt that says "69"
