I honestly hadn't even heard that news outlets in the US were saying we were under martial law. But when I read your first post, I was assuming it was a network named after an animal... not the NYT!

I'm told it was them too but it was the NYT I saw it in, and all the Canadian reporters and legal experts and politicians replying to it that they were wrong . Still took them hours to issue the correction.

I mean, I can kind of see how they would think it's Martial Law. It's similar to the War Measures Act which his Father enacted, but it's not quite the same thing. I think it's a bit broader than the War Measures Act was.

In other news, Chief Peter Sloly has resigned under pressure. Oh dear. I thought he'd been doing fairly well. There was only so much he could do given the circumstances.

To my POV, Chief Sloly was forced to resign for being excessively competent, and thereby defying the will of the Ottawa Police Association's leadership, OPA president Matt Skof's will in particular. There's been a lot of suspicion of street-level police complicity with the Convoy Coup Crowd, and I share some of it.

Skof has a bit of a history of trying to get perceived enemies removed from their jobs. Cross-reference his name with that of city councillor Eli El-Chantiry and see what comes up.

I disagree. Ford has pushed the masks, the vaccines and reluctantly the lockdowns - everything his daughter stands again.

He might be a closet anti-vaxxer but publicly he has been out there calling for people to get vaccinated etc.

I'm hoping after the election the ndp finally get rid of horvath, yeah ford's made mistakes but hovath has been little more than shrill doomsayer (same can be said for the same of the journalists and columnists at the Toronto Star).

Yeah, exactly, plus he was kind of limited in what he could do. The truckers have dug their heels in and more help was needed. Hopefully the emergencies act will help in that regard.

Police in riot gear, hundreds of arrests, vehicles impounded, others leaving of their on accord before they get arrested, vaccine mandate for entry to Canada for truckers still in place but according to fox the protestors are winning.

the lifting of some one the restrictions in Ontario was put on the road map by the provincial govt last summer, kenney and moe have always been quick to drop restrictions (and leaving others to pick up the pieces such as Ontario hospitals taking their overflow).

Think the tossers are fox meant to say that truckers are losing.
