Not only is TLJ the best SW since the OT, it will likely stay that way for a very, very long time.

Unsurprisingly, someone has already deepfaked the Luke scene. Honestly, it looks like a one step forward, two steps back kind of fix. The eyes look a lot more alive, but the flat lighting on the face makes the whole thing look detached from the body, and the matte line around the hair need a LOT more work.
Like with the 'Rogue One' Takin and Leia scenes, it's also worth remembering that the deepfakes only look as good as they do because ILM already did all the heavy lifting by replicating the facial geometry. Trying to do that on the raw footage of the stand-in performers will yield much poorer results.
We definitely won’t be seeing Finn ever again. Lol. Mostly likely Poe will never be shown again. You’re favorite trio will never ever gain the significance of the originals because they just repeated their story. They weren’t first. Sorry but the sequels are done and no one cares to explore that era of Star Wars again.
Solo is a blast and doesn't deserve the hate.I know I’m in the vast minority, but I really liked Solo. It had its problems but I never thought it was as bad as many felt it was. Oh well...![]()
I'm with you. I'll take Solo or Rogue One over the entire Sequel Trilogy any time.

The first part of it was kind of boring but after that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dryden Voss is one of my favorite Star Wars villains introduced of late. It's just a fun heist movie in Star Wars. For me, Solo is just too darn boring to hate. It's just...there. (barely.)

I respect other people's opinions but this one...![]()
It's so fun to hear different experiences even though I find it so odd.Had the opposite reaction! It's passably okay for an hour or so. but once they land with the coaxium, the movie totally grinds to a halt and never recovers.
I suspect Luke’s appearance drew a lot more on deepfake-style techniques and technologies than most of the digital human work we’ve seen in film in recent years. I’ll be surprised if, when the BTS stuff comes out in a little while, there’s a breakdown where we see digi-Luke had a fully rigged head with bones and muscles and simulated blood flow and all the trimmings with detailed motion-tracking from the stand-in combined with hand-animation to get all the nuances of how Hamill moved his face (on Rogue One, for instance, they noticed that Guy Henry formed certain phonemes with his mouth in a different way than Peter Cushing did, so those lip syncs had to be hand-animated). My guess would be there was a fairly rough animated Luke-head put on top of Max Lloyd-Jones’ face, that was sweetened up with machine-learning stuff. One of the drawbacks of deep fakes is that it’s essentially a black box, and getting the best results is a lot of trial and error and luck with the source footage you train the computer on. And ILM has access to a lot more photos and footage of Mark Hamill as RotJ-era Luke than any fan does, so their results will always come out differently even if they used the same basic tool.Unsurprisingly, someone has already deepfaked the Luke scene.
