Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

It was entertaining but wasn’t as good as last week’s. I didn’t realize that the other New Republic pilot was Dave Filoni until the end credits.

I think next week we’ll get more progress on the story. There’s only 6 episodes left. Time to move it along.

Meh........made me crave some pickled eggs. You know it's a puppet right?

If you want to point out that every single thing in the show is fake, why are you watching it? Forgive me for being invested in the reality of the show.

Moron.

I don't see where it was that bad, people eat eggs all the time.

People eat eggs come from dumb animals and the eggs are farmed specifically for that purpose.

These are eggs from a sentient being who specifically stated she was going to have them fertilized so they could be the last offspring of her dying family line.

That's horrifying. That's not a joke, it's a tragedy. I'm shocked the show was this stunningly tone deaf.

He's a baby, he doesn't know any better, and besides there are movies and TV shows with comic deaths all the time.

I just finished watching this episode and it was decent. However, I miss Greef and Cara, and how last season ended I was hoping we would see them again relatively soon. Also, will we get more on the Dark Saber that was teased at the end of last season? It's one of the things I don't like about the long waits between Season finales and Season premieres. You have this long wait in between seasons and when the premiere finally happens, you expected and hoped for so much more.

As for the episode itself, it felt like Cuteness overload with the Frog Lady and the Child. Also, the Child was eating everything in it's path, which seems wrong.

Actually, what Baby Yoda eating the eggs reminded me of most was “The Shape of Water” (you know which part). I was surprised by how forgiving most people were of that, too.

Well, that, and Baby Yoda seems to just love eating things alive. He ate a whole frog that one time.

He's a baby, he doesn't know any better, and besides there are movies and TV shows with comic deaths all the time.

Are babies routinely the subject of these "comic deaths"? Yeah, didn't think so.

(While I'm not conflating the deaths of unfertilized eggs to babies, it's still horrifying given that the woman was desperate to save her eggs for procreative purposes. It was grotesque for the show to do that and then make a joke about how they are destroyed in such a cavalier way.)

This show has a really dark sense of humor at times.

There's a difference between a dark sense of humor and a bad sense of humor.

Is it the same spider from Rebels??

This was my first reaction too. Loved that we got the Chopper Base spiders (or at least a relative, I'm not 100% sure it was exactly the same design) in live action. They look much creepier here, and they looked pretty darn creepy back then.

So, for the people complaining that the "main" story hasn't moved. Notice how closely season 2 is mirroring S1 so far? The first episode was the job/quest episode. Overcome some obstacle on a mission. The second episode is the we-broke-our-ship, waylaid by aliens interlude. Hell, both second episodes even open with Mando being ambushed by thugs. If that pattern holds, the third episode should serve as a bookend to the first, and revisit the core narrative in a pretty major way.

The third episode appears to be the water planet. You've got the broken, beat up Razor Crest that was the first shot in the trailer, which clearly is picking up from where this chapter left off. If you rewatch the trailer, the dock scene (which appears to be where Sasha Banks' character appears) includes the Frog Lady, complete with egg tank, and what is presumably her husband. So, I'm guessing we get the Mando/Child boat adventure next week. And if I'm right about the structural similarities, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we either meet some more Mandalorians or if something happens that sends the story off in a different direction.

One possible thing of significance occurred this week. The possibility that Mando might have, if not friends or allies within the New Republic, at the very least he has garnered a positive rep amongst the fighter pilots.

I found the child eating the frog’s eggs to be somewhat sad but you can’t call them “babies”—they weren’t—they were unfertilized eggs. But from a sentient species which is what makes it awkward.

Sigh.

WHY DISNEY. WHY YOU ALWAYS DO THIS.

First Episode 8, now this.

Please get a dictionary and look up "light-year".

Yeah, eating the eggs was dark comedy. BY is an infant. Mando didn’t take precautions after seeing it the first time.
