My husband and I were a bit disappointed. It was just a little boring. We didn't get enough about the main character to really care what happens to him. I find it difficult to get invested in shows where I don't feel anything relatable or intriguing from the main character.

For me personally, I've never really been into battle sequences, and I find characters like Boba Fett to be incredibly one-dimensional and boring. So I'm not surprised at all that I was not into this episode. However, my husband is a huge Star Wars fan and was really excited about this show. It's right up his alley. It definitely felt like a western, and he's obsessed with westerns. But even he thought it dragged a bit too much and didn't give us quite enough for a first episode.

With all that said, we're still planning to watch at least a couple more episodes to see if it improves. Pilot episodes can be weird, so I try not to judge shows on that alone.

It's just one episode, I'm sure we'll get more character stuff as the story proceeds. If I had to choose, I much prefer this compared to that recent Short Trek where the audience is just told stuff about Spock for fifteen minutes, hell they even titled it "Q&A". Then again, I've always loved spaghetti westerns so maybe I'm biased.

The fact we didn’t learn much about him is probably meant to be the hook to get people to keep watching. It’s a mystery, and we want to learn more.

I love the way they (Filoni?) often embrace pieces of the "abandoned" Star Wars universe. It was great seeing those creatures from Battle For Endor, I was really waiting for one of them to scratch it's own face just like the stop-motion version.

Filoni first brought the Blurrg’s back in Clone Wars IIRC. But yeah this is the first time we’ve seen them in live action in a long time.

The age of the "asset" to me indicates that it's not a clone, but possibly a potential template specimen. 50 years old would put it being born about 9 or 10 years prior to TPM, way before it seems Dooku even contacted the Kaminoans.

Personally, my money is on this having something to do with Project Harvester.

If this is about cloning, I would think it would be more likely that they want to clone the baby, rather than the baby being a clone. If all of his people are as powerful in the Force as Yoda was, then a whole army of them would be insanely powerful.

I've almost ever been drawn completely into a character from the first episode of a new show. It always takes a while with me. So yeah, like you said, I'm giving it some time.

In the mean, I really enjoyed the vibe/look of the show. Very OT with some new stuff added. Since it was one episode, there really isn't anything to comment on, so I'm going to wait a few more episodes untill I really start giving feedback. But I enjoyed what I saw sofar.

He’s capable of creative problem solving
He won’t kill children for money
He’s not afraid of poor odds
He is slowly acquiring a beskar suit of armor

That’s not bad for 40 minutes.

...and we have seen clones grown at accelerated rates before, which would be a necessary step for that to be practical with this genome. Maybe that's the hurdle they're still trying to overcome? That they can make clones, but can't age them up at a rate that would make the endeavour even remotely practical.

Given that IG-11 had clear instructions to terminate and The Mandalorian was told alive is preferable; I think we're dealing with two completing ex-Imperial factions. Maybe one is just Remnant but the other is First Order aligned? The question is, which is which?
Given how the First Order would end up following someone that was openly a force user (even towards the end, Palpatine's true nature was a closely guarded secret) it seems they're the logical candidates for trying to continue Project Harvester. It could go either way of course since terminating an asset rather than letting it fall into a competing faction's hands would seem in character.

I'm not sure that's quite it either. An army of tiny green aliens doesn't seem to me like something the Empire/Imperial Remnant would want, since they've usually been portrayed as xenophobic. It could be that he plans to find a way to transfer small amounts of force ability from the baby to human soldiers, like the Reborns and Shadowtroopers from Jedi Knight II.

Oh, OK, thanks. I knew who played Greef Karga, I just had no idea Carl Weathers was Apollo Creed. I'd heard the name, but didn't know how it related The Mandaloria. I've only seen the first Rocky once over a decade, and do not remember it at all.
