Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

That link kinda makes me wish I'd just been joking. There's a level of pedantic fandom that I find more and more off putting the older I get. (this coming from the person that attempted to create a 100% accurate set of plans for the E-nil.)

Is there a variant of the X-Wing two-dimensional because of the cardboard stand-ups used to fill in the background? or how about one that has the cockpit internals all back to front because they used a giant mirror to extend the Yavin hangar set too?

I think you misunderstood me. The Rogue One Visual Dictionary had a throwaway mention that the X-Wings used in that movie were a different type than the ones in ANH, but didn't say what the difference is, and, as an in-universe book, certainly didn't say whose idea it was say it was a different type. But it wasn't the fandom's idea.

I just linked to a model-making blog because I thought the picture was an easier explanation for why I think Pablo Hidalgo et al. said it was a canon in-universe variant me going on a long digression about how one is, like, subtly pointier than the other, but in a blocky way, and I don't think all the greebles match, and the cockpit looked roomier.

In any case, my point was that Wookiepedia is actually less tech-focused than, say, Memory Alpha, and is largely useless for cataloging things like variations in props or ships, unless it's been identified as such in an official release. MA has long, informative behind-the-scenes articles about the design and history of most ship models used in Star Trek. Wookiepedia... doesn't. They may not even get around to mentioning the discrepancy at all. I actually find it frustrating how much harder it is to find good production design photos and research on line for Wars, considering its popularity.

And Stinson Lenz's camera-matching project looks like a five-year-old making an X-Wing out of pencil nubs and paperclips compared to the kind of deep dives World War II or Age of Sail scale modelers do. Tracing over a couple photos in the computer really isn't the crystal meth of hobbies.

You had me (kind of) until this sentence. Then it all fell apart and I was completely lost.

Should I have taken crystal meth prior to reading this post?

I was mocking the idea that it was an excessively zealous form of fandom that was disturbing and damaging toward the person's quality of life. Like a drug addition or something.

Well, it can be disturbing. I wouldn't say damaging towards a person's life per se, but possibly enjoyment.

I seem to recall the wookieepedia mentions that the first of th T-70 X-wings came out just before the Battle of Jakku. Thus having one around years after that is entirely possible.
The first Prototype was built the same year as Jakku yeah.

Caught up with the Disney behind the scenes stuff and I don't know if it's my imagination but it seems like Favreau does not want to engage whenever Filoni says "Expanded Universe". "Yeah hmmm er right" lol Along the same lines, Lucas's decided lack of enthusiasm for the Holiday Special. The culling of elements from throughout the franchise was definitely a success for The Mandalorian.

I like that musician guy is exactly what you would imagine some eccentric music nerd type to be like right down to his casual wear with offset crazy patterns. Damned if he didn't bring it though, seeing the clips with his score made me just want to watch the whole series again.

It may be PR but everything Favreau says about the process just sounds right and it really does sound like they have a fine-tuned monster of a machine to produce a series. I love the way they have harnessed and innovate new technologies in a way that seems very true to the legacy of ILM.

They've released a new video featuring composer Ludwig Goransson performing the show's theme song.

Does anyone know what the black and white thing he's playing at the beginning and end is?

^A cornet is similar to a trumpet. You may be thinking of a clarinet.

I asked my dad, who's a music teacher, and he thinks it's some form of a recorder, perhaps a bass recorder.

Well, I saw some curved ones online. Didn't look like a trumpet.

His synthesizer has a Plasma Drive!

As Tosk said, he explicitly calls it a recorder in the behind the scenes music episode. I believe it's right at the beginning of the episode.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch Disney Gallery yet.

Just finished it. I think it's just as good as the actual series. The last episode might be my favorite. It's great watching all these creators gush like 13 year olds who got let loose in Star Wars world or Galaxy's Edge.

15 Emmy nominations

The Mandalorian scored noms for Best Drama, Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance, Production Design for Narrative Program (half-hour), Cinematography for Single Camera (half hour), Fantasy/sci-fi costumes, 3 single-camera Picture editing for a drama series, Prosthetic make-up, music composition, a guest actor in a drama series nod for Giancarlo Esposito, 2 sound-editing in a comedy/drama half hour series, outstanding special vfx, and stunt coordination for a drama series, limited series or movie.

Win or lose, that's some nice recognition for a great show.

Wow, I never would have imaged a Star Wars series would get that many Emmy nominations. It's tied for the third most noms, along with Shitt's Creek, and Saturday Night Live.
