The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

Saw this today and found it enjoyable with a "proper" StarWars feeling to it. Much more fun than episodes 2, 3, 8 & 9 and less run-of-the-mill than Solo. Definitely something I will be watching again.

Not very fond of Grogu as a main character (I didn't bother with season 3 of The Mandalorian). The major disappointment was not being hear the music properly because it was SO LOUD. Seems little point in referencing the Mandolorian theme, say, if you can't hear it for the noise.

Would have liked to see storyboards at the end like the series but you can't have everything.

Saw this today with my son. Mostly empty theater, but that's not surprising for a 10am show.

Had a very similar experience, as my eldest son and I just got back from seeing The Mandalorian & Grogu at the cinema - and we were the only ones there!

Was quite surreal - but ironically kind of cool also, as my son’s birthday is coming up, and going to see this was an early birthday present. So we had an entire movie theatre all to ourselves! So weirdly a silver lining, despite not being a great result for audience-numbers.

Was an entertaining movie, and defo felt like 2-3 episodes combined, but we had a good time, some good laughs, and an overall fun SW experience!

Since seeing the film, I've been rewatching the show (and The Book of Boba Fett) to refresh my memory and to notice various connections and themes with the film, many of which I expected. One thing I hadn't anticipated was discovering that two of the warlords seen on the Shadow Council in "The Spies" were Commander Barro (the warlord in the prologue) and Lord Janu! I imagine they would've had larger roles in season four but it was still see cool to see that callback.

Yeah, I didn't remember them at all when I saw the film. But there are really only three characters of any importance on the Shadow Council, and those two aren't among them.

Interesting. I remembered Commander Barro was in the Shadow Council, though that was mostly because when I did my rewatch in March, I recognized him from this movie's trailers. Didn't realize Janu was there though, I'll have to watch for that next time.

Yup, they stood out, plus Hux and Palleon.

Yup, I caught them the first time around (and how Domhall's brother played Hux).

You know, I just realized why Barro had looked familiar in the trailers but couldn't figure it out. I thought it was because he talked like Javier Bardem but it turns out my subconscious was telling me what my memory didn't.
