The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

Then there's Sigourney Weaver, already making enemies with the galaxy by withholding the snack bowl from Grogu! :censored:
Sorry, but she made a friend for life with that gesture.

Someone needs to stop Grogu from his excessive rudeness (which resulted in the deaths of several viable fetuses), not to mention stop Favreau from leaning on the exceedingly tired "ha ha, Grogu likes to eat" joke every thirty seconds.

The people who were quick to cry "boycott Disney" now look even more foolish give.n that Kimmel's"indefinite" hiatus lasted all of 5 days, but that's what a knee-jerk reaction will do.
They look foolish for being right? For costing Disney literally $5 billion over a week and thus forcing their hand (because the huge drop in market cap, I'm sure, had "nothing" to do with their decision to reverse course, right?)

I think it makes them (us) look the exact opposite of foolish. s

"Knee jerk" reaction aka effective activism.

So you're cool with the authoritarians using governmental power to silence speech, then? Interesting take!
Well, let's see... {shuffles notes} it says here the amount of complaints that came from you when the Biden administration pressured social media companies to take down factually accurate information totals somewhere in the... zero. It's zero.

Hmm. Filoni's using the feature budget to throw in even more creature effects than he could afford on TV. Aside from extras, the only human face featured in the trailer is Sigourney Weaver's.
Which is a nice change from Andor, which probably had the least amount of aliens in it of any Star Wars production so far.
Guess the Hutt twins from Boba are coming back?
Between them and Rota is looks like this movie is going to be filled with Hutts, which I'm OK since I've always gotten a kick out of them.
It's about what I'd expect from such an early teaser; fun, action, cameos for the fans, and a little comedy with the little green star of the movie.

Random notes: -
  • First off; I really really hope that's Nar Shaddaa. I know I've said that for like two or three other show.game trailers these last few years, but aside from a few name-drops, it's been so odd for the smuggler's moon to have been overlooked in non-print media for so long!
We've never seen it onscreen? I could have sworn one of the animated series had a visit to Nar Shadaa.
  • Well, looks like Zeb is getting more to do in this than just a simple cameo. It would have been weird for him not to be busting bucketheads like the old days!
I'm glad I rewatched the trailer on my TV, because I missed that the first time I watched it on my tablet.
  • Buff Hutt? Yeah I know this leaked back during Celebration, but it's still fun to see! I think it's still even money as to whether this is Grakkus or Rotta. Given how long Hutts live it seems a little to early for the latter to have gotten so big (yes, even after 30 years!) but certainly not out of the question. Also the presence of the Twins on the poster and the Desilijic Clan crest all over the gladiatorial dungeons would seem to heavily indicate it.
I had assumed it was Rota, but now that you mention it, it does kinda look like Grakkus did in the comics. They already introduced Krrsantan from the comics in The Book of Boba Fett, so we know they have no problem bringing characters from the comics into the Mandoverse. I'm still holding out hope that we're going to eventually get to see Dr. Aphra on screen at some point.

The trailer was a ton of fun, and definitely has me very, very excited for this.
It was nice to see Sigourney Weaver's character.
The stuff with Grogu and the Azellans already looks it's going to be a highlight.
Did they get the new Razor Crest during Season 3 or is that new to the movie?
I love the retro style logo, and that is an awesome old-fashioned poster.

Having watching it a couple times, the trailer did feel more like a trailer for a TV movie than a theatrical movie

I wonder if they'll cover him getting the new ship in the film or if it'll just start with him having it with maybe a throwaway line to explain.

I thought so, too, but a glance at Wookiepedia says no.

Nal, Hutta, on the other hand, was depicted in The Clone Wars series. I was thinking that was Nar Shadaa.

Nar Shaddaa, nicknamed the "Smuggler's Moon," was the notorious moon of the planet Nal Hutta, homeworld of the Hutt species. It was home to a large criminal underworld dominated by bounty hunters and Hutt crime lords. An ecumenopolis, the entire surface of Nar Shaddaa was covered in urban sprawl. It was the homeworld of the Palliduvan bounty hunter Aurra Sing and the Jablogian enslaver Azmorigan.

Honestly, that "as himself" joke kind of bugs me
Yes. Certainly Frank Oz got the credit he was due as Yoda.

"As himself." Hmm. When James Caan appeared in an episode of Get Smart, as the nefarious Rupert of Rathskeller, he chose a billing as "Rupert of Rathskeller As Himself," not wanting a TV credit to get in the way of feature film roles.

When it comes to the Grogu as himself credit, I'm sure that's just a joke for the poster and the actual credits of the final movie will include everybody.
But the credits are always a little weird when it comes to puppet characters and voice over characters in live action shows. Personally, I've always found it a little odd that Farscape didn't include Jonathan Hardy as the voice Rygel and Lani Tupu as the voice of Pilot in the opening credits since they were just a big a part of the show as all the other actors.
One of the recent Muppet shows, I think maybe Muppets Mayhem, was one of the only times I've ever seen the Muppet characters' voice actors included in opening credits with the on screen actors.

I must have been thinking of Nal Hutta then.

Well there was quite a gap between TOS and TMP. OTOH, There was no real gap between TNG and GEN and GEN used a lot of TV assets. The assets from FC filtered into DS9 and VOY.
I disagree about TNG and GEN. It's clear that TNG is a weekly TV show. The TNG movies, on the other hand, are pure theater in terms of visuals and narrative. Having just watched the movies, I understand the difference.

They reused sets, costumes and props from TNG in Generations. And then went the other way by reusing First Contact props, uniforms and other assets in DS9 and Voyager.

Also, the old Trek movies are a bad example, since aside from the first one, they were made for fairly modest budgets by feature standards. The Wrath of Khan was even considered as a television movie at first, which is why they hired TV producer Harve Bennett to do it. TWOK and TSFS just benefited from getting to reuse the expensive sets, models, and stock footage from TMP, making them look a lot better than they would have otherwise.
However, when you look at the original TV series and the second movie, you realize that one is a weekly TV show and the other is a theatrical film. Besides, except for Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, there's no other series on TV that has been adapted into a theatrical film and has been successful.

You might be right about the sets and costumes. My point is that series have the narrative of a weekly TV show, while movies have the narrative of a feature film. Incidentally, the visual effects quality of both series and movies is also influential. The fact that the original series was from the '60s, while the movies were from the '80s, is also a factor. In the case of TNG and GEN, the TV shows have the visuals and episodic storylines of a weekly TV show, while the movies have the visuals and narratives of a feature film. That's my point. I didn't find that difference in The Mandarin.
