The Legend of Korra: Book 3

Okay, I found them somewhere else (hopefully legal).

Pretty great start to the season! I love how they just dove right in, and it's great to be in Bah Singh Se again.

Zuko and a dragon...pretty awesome. Also loved his little quip about how he once hired an assassin to kill the Avatar, followed by What's-her-face's response that she tried to kill Korra for ruining her wedding.

Looking forward to where this is going to lead.

And those frickin' Dai Li...why can't the Earth Kingdom just behave itself?

God this show is so good. Hit the ground absolutely running and I don't understand why Nick are being such idiots (dicks?) about promoting it.

It's great seeing Zuko again, though I worry

he's gonna be a Sacrificial Lion to prove what badasses these bending criminals are.
I definitely agree with those who think the Earth Queen's "Airbender regiment" is to help her regain the territory that was "lost" to create the United Republic.

It's not idiocy, it's ill-considered panic. They had a whole plan to give the show a big rollout at an upcoming convention and build up anticipation for its fall premiere, but then a few episodes got leaked online and Nick panicked and decided to premiere the season early to get ahead of the pirates. Which left them little time to create a promotional campaign.

So the people you should blame are not the network executives, but the criminals who pirate television shows and movies. Nick made a mistake by letting those criminals dictate their policies, but the pirates are ultimately the ones ruining things for everybody.

No, I'm going to 100% blame Nick for being stupid. Piracy is here and it's not going away. Companies need to learn how to deal with it.

The pilot episode of The Flash was leaked about a week ago. That's almost 4 months before the actual season premiere in October. You don't see the CW panicking and mass releasing Arrow/The Flash out of sheer stupidity.

Yeah, but the pirates are doing something illegal and immoral. Nick just did something foolish in response to that crime. It's clear to me which is the greater wrong.

More Korra news. This just in.

Nick is releasing two episodes per week starting July 11th. Season 3 concludes on August 8. It's like they just want to get it out of the way. :wtf:

If they're going to do that, they might as well take a page from Netflix and just release the whole thing all at once.

Nick's treatment of Korra is pretty bizarre. Networks typically only burn through episodes of a show if that show is failing badly, and they want to get it over with quickly. This might be early indications of Nick's lack of faith in the series.

I'm just remembering that Nickelodeon has always been kind of unreliable with scheduling new episodes. There have been a number of series I've followed on that network over the years that have been frustrating experiences because new episodes were often released on erratic schedules and often without any advance notice so that the TV listings reported some entirely different show in the time slot in question. I think Avatar: TLA had some problems like that, where we got erratic scheduling and promotion. Either that or episodes getting delayed forever -- like that one batch of third-season episodes that was released on DVD before they had their television debut. So this is really in keeping with Nick's usual (lack of) pattern.

Was The Legend of Korra meant to last longer than 4 books though?

Nick.com doesn't seem to have them available yet...and it looks like they only have a random selection of episodes from Season 2. I was going to watch the last couple episodes before diving in Season 3, but they aren't there.

And now the site won't even load for me at all, so who knows what's up...

Yeah it was weird because last week they are like "All the episodes are up!!!" and now they don't even have the last few?

*cough Google Project Free TV cough*

Nick isn't burning through episodes, they are being smart. They did a two episode premiere and showed the 3rd episodes because Friday is a holiday so they will just will rerun the 3rd episode then and the fourth on July 11th.

And the show was only supposed to go 12 episodes, than 26, then 52, so what the hell? Any Avatar is good Avatar to me.

I almost wonder if it's because of the audience who's watching this show. I don't know how many kids are watching "Korra," but I sure do know a lot of adults who are watching it, mostly because we're all fans of A:TLA.

And you know what most adults probably aren't going to do? Give up their Friday night to watch a cartoon. Maybe releasing these big chunks of episodes is Nick's way of giving us our show without being too much of an inconvenience.

They are burning through episodes because all of season 3 will be done airing in just 6 weeks (ignoring the week that won't be airing an episode).

Just today I was hoping that we'd get 3 episodes a week in July because a single episode just isn't enough. Then we get this news. I'm happy.

We're guaranteed four books so I'm not concerned about how they're burning them off. I never considered that they could have gone further though. I hope that Book 4's finale provides some closure and isn't just another end to a season.

'The Legend of Korra' season 3 hits lowest premiere rating of series

The first two episodes of The Legend of Korra season 3, "A Breath of Fresh Air" and "Rebirth," hit 1.504 million viewers, while season 3, episode 3, "The Earth Queen," had a dismal 1.298 rating, according to Zap2It. The episodes are all still above the lowest rated episode of the sequel series to The Last Airbender, which was last season's "Peacekeepers" with a 1.10 rating.

For comparison’s sake, The Legend of Korra series premiere aired to a 4.55 rating, while season 2′s had only 2.6 million viewers.
I've seen people online commenting that they didn't know about the premiere and only caught it by accident.

And from the drop-off between episodes 2 and 3, it looks like people either tuned out or didn't know there was another episode. I've seen evidence of the latter.

Gee, they decide to air it during the summer with almost no announcement or warning and it has the lowest premiere yet?

Shocking! Shocking, I say!!!

The greater wrong may be obvious, but Nick doesn't get let off the hook for being bleeding idiots about the whole thing. A conspiracy theorist might say it's all an excuse to not give the show the chance it deserves.
