Emissary, kinda boring and the prophet/wormhole/flashback scenes are way too long.

This is a pretty strong set of episodes. I think I'll vote for The Adversary first. The series has many better season -ending stories, and the Tzenkethi were an invented race that had been at war with the Federation. I know that's how the Cardassians were created on TNG, but there in The Wounded, they did it in a more believeable way.

I love this list. Pretty much all of them belong on a best-of-series list, but most of the obvious candidates for that title aren't here. Final lists like this are why I find this game structure so satisfying.

I'm practically flipping a coin, but I'll give a point to "The Adversary." I did find it a slightly disappointing finale, and the Tzenkethi thing was seriously weak. They either needed to pick a race we'd already heard of, or finesse that insta-war backstory better.

This is an extremely tough choice for a first round. A lot of these episodes are not just the finest of DS9, but of the franchise as a whole. It's almost a dart game trying to pick one.

I'll go with "IN THE HANDS OF THE PROPHETS", only because as a season finale, not a whole lot had ripple effects, despite it introducing Winn and Bareil. All the other season finales on this list had bigger ripples... the Dominion blowing up a Galaxy class ship, Sisko getting promotion and Odo killing a Founder, or Odo becoming a solid, despite that lasting barely half a season.

I'll give another point to The Adversary, which is really a pretty generic episode outside of the ending.

Voting for Changing Face of Evil. This is much harder than the TNG final round, really no bad episodes, or even average or 'pretty good' episodes. Changing Face of Evil is good, but the whole business with Dukat posing as a Bajoran was odd.

In the Hands of the Prophets. A better than average finale, especially for first season Trek, but Emissary is the best Trek pilot and the other episodes are all strong chapters of DS9: the best Trek show.

"IN THE HANDS OF THE PROPHETS", for the same reasons as before.

Yeah as much as I love the introduction of Winn and Bareil, In The Hands of The Prophets is the weakest one left.

"Emissary" - thought it was boring as hell, even in the first season there were quite a few episodes better than this one (*cough*Duet*cough*)

Another point for Emissary. I personally thought it was just an OK opener. Best part for me was Sisko and Picard's meeting.

Yes it was epic. I also like the majority of the scenes in when Sisko was talking to the Prophets. "So you choose to exists here? That is not linear."

“Emissary” —-it could’ve used a bit more TNG crossover action (like they could’ve started it on TNG with the E-D being ordered to DS9, and showing what had happened befoRe Sisko got there).
