First point goes to The Ascent. Enjoyable enough episode but I'm not really sure how it ended up here.

If The Ascent is the episode where Quark and Odo backpack across a hostile terrain on a desolate planet, I must concur. Good but not as memorable as other episodes.

Yeah, consider that 4 votes for The Ascent. How the hell did it get here above other season five great eps?

And The Ascent goes. I do love the A story, and I always have to give props to the camera & post department for how alien they made California look just with filters and playing with color saturation, but it's even one of those episodes with a clunky B story. A solid ep, but not in league with the rest here.

EDIT: @Tosk beat me to the punch! So I'll give my point for this round to Little Green Men. Like most of these, considered a DS9 classic, but it's charms have never quite worked on me. To pick one thing to complain about, it really needs the scene where Rom actually says goodbye to Nog at the end! Having the final scene just jump back to Quark and Rom at the bar is putting the emphasis in the wrong place, it's the wrong character arc to button up in this one.

Another vote for Little Green Men. It's a good episode but just a little overly silly in their portrayal of the 1940s military.

Yep. Little Green Men is a great episode on its own but there's much better fare to be found here.

Moving right along, I like that! :bolian:

I guess next I would go with... A Time To Stand. It's just the least special of what's remaining. Plus, that ridiculous conversation Sisko has with his father in this ep -- it's stands out in my mind as one of DS9's most false scenes.

One for Emissary. I love seeing Wolf 359 and I love most of the rest of the episode really, but it's not as good as what's to come, and I think the scenes with the Prophets actually work better on a rewatch than they do on an initial viewing...but even so, they're much slower-paced and can get tedious.

Emissary is a great pilot, the best Star Trek pilot in fact, but it doesn't have the advantage of years of carefully constructed development that makes the rest of DS9 so special. That, and the prophet scenes are too lengthy.

U'm voting for Emissary too. The Prophet portion of the episode is still really compelling, with Sisko still burdened with the death of hi wife. Being a pilot though it's rough around the edges. The other episodes are left.

Also glad to see Little Green Men and The Ascent were taken care of whilst I was asleep. ;) I love them both but the others left are better.

I'll make Emissary's elimination official. There aren't actually too many faults I can lay at its feet, other than Kira coming across as a little too shrill and angry even by her standards, and Bashir seeming like a complete idiot at times, but it's still very much a rough product, and not in the same league as the others here.

My next vote is for Necessary Evil, which is a really great story and character-piece but just not as thrilling or powerful as the others.

Will vote Way of the Warrior. Did its job, introduced Worf. But the Klingon War arc it kicked off was not DS9's finest moment. Overall the episode felt like a big stretch going way out of their way to accomplish their story goal.

Necessary Evil - 1
The Jem'Hadar - 0
Improbable Cause - 0

I'll vote for The Jem'Hadar. There's nothing really wrong with it, I just like the other episodes more. I suppose that there was a lack of follow-up to the Vorta telekinesis, though that wouldn't be a problem with The Jem'Hadar would it?

Necessary Evil - 1

I think there are much better season 4 episodes than The Way Of The Warrior.

Yeah if The Visitor had made it through that would have been a contender for the win.
