The Last Man on Earth

the second sounds more in tone to one of the stories in the Martian Chronicles, the guy who thinks he's all alone then learns of a woman in another town and heads over only to discover she's a complete harriden!

The TV adaptation of which starred John Glover, I might add. :techman:

(Edit: Ninja'd by Guy. :scream: )

Actually I was thinking of the original TV mini series where the guy was played by Christopher Connelly :)

Oh. I had only heard of the Ray Bradbury Theater version (Glover's). :alienblush:

The premise of this show sounds like something I would probably like (even if it's rubbish) though I did kinda get bored by "the quiet earth"

I'll assume it's not available in the UK

How many air-miles do you have?

Or can you afford otherwise to travel to America and back once a week for the next two months?

I'll give it one more episode... The one from last night was terrible, I didn't laugh once, in fact I think I didn't smile once.

No priest, no paperwork... If the president (Phil of JFK) can marry people, with powers similar to a pope, then he can probably divorce and marry people verbally without their permission or knowledge. Fuck Phil, he's being a jerk, and after tonight deserves no one, but Jeff Kaye could have been constantly using his super powers to divorce Jackie, marry Marilyn, make a queen sized bed an historical landmark, then divorce Marilyn and remarry Jaquie without anyone the wiser that his hands were clean and everything is above board that the definiition and standards of marriage had been upheld.

I've never thought January was "sexy" enough to be Emma Frost (because it's an impossible standard.), but I suppose after you've made love to a volley ball, January can be thought to have a particular special charm.

The average woman is still conceptual if there's only two of them. You need an odd number of women in the world to have someone in the middle. Before, Carol was the most, least and average women in all matters on all fronts. Now it's completely binary. Best and worst.

Is Melissa a sneaky lesbian who is trying to trick Phil into handing her Carol?

Oh my God. The two episodes this week were painfully unfunny. I don't know how they can fix this.

I pushed pause, 3 minutes into episode 5, and haven't gone back yet.

Phil is amazing by himself, but the more women you add to his world, the less likeable he gets.

Yeah, there's a difference between cringe-worthy comedy and just cringing. It was starting to get genuinely uncomfortable, and not in a good comedic way. His ham-handed treatment of Todd really drove it into the ground especially. Things started elevating slightly when he showed Blondie his collection of balls, though.

Quandry: How do they continue to call the show "The Last Man on Earth" when he's...well...not, anymore?

The only thing not completely terrible about these two episodes. I don't think I've ever seen a show go from a fairly funny/entertaining pilot to complete garbage this fast. I'm out.

I think the show is funny, and it's only getting better with the more people they add. I'm enjoying seeing the worst possible thing happen at the worst possible time for Phil :p

Not any better from last week. The writers are confusing comedy with making your audience extremely uncomfortable.

Next week looks like more of the same from the previews.

Normally I would, but this is like watching a slow-motion train crash. Now I'm fascinated with how bad this show can get.

I made it through episode one. Done.
Episode one showed he already searched the country. It would have been more interesting if each episode took place in a different state, that's forty-nine episodes if you do not count Hawaii.

Wow, this show went from laugh-out-loud hysterical to painfully unwatchable. Phil went from a lovable loser to insufferable.

Haven't seen the most recent one - a shame they seem to be continuing in this downward spiral of painful discomfort in the delivery. At this point, I highly expect it to be cancelled without even breaking a sweat. Very sad - had such potential.
