The Klingon Head

I am not sure if there are any KLINGONS in this movie. But if there are, or will be in sequels, do you think they should be the bumpy headed version? Or some scaled back version, like Chang from TUC? I would favor the chang lookd...I think the turtle head klingon look is just, well, done to death and, sometimes, comes off cheap looking....I would even going totally reboot and have the klingons look like the Naussicans (not the dumpy later versios, the kickass looking ones from Tapestry..)

Already discussed at some length in these threads:

and in the Official Trailer Review and Comments thread. And some other threads, besides.

There are also
about 47 ships' worth of Klingons who get wiped out early in the story
according to reports.

Bumpy or smooth headed?

What about furry? Weren't the ones in TMP kind of furry? It looked that way to me, but I could be mistaken...

I just went thru a high def version of the trailer, and while I think I spotted the Klingons (someone had a metallic shoulder strap), I couldn't make out the faces well enough.

Can someone point me in the right direction, at least a time counter reading on the point in the playback where they appear? (I'm talking about version 2, the one with older Spock at the end.)

Look at 1:38. It's very brief.

Oh god, oh god, oh god.

You're basing your asumption on half a second of a trailer? Not to mention that Klingons of TOS had NO ridges.

And what the film makers have said about where Nero breaks out of.

It's a re-imgaining, so anything is possible. Though I don't expect any super crazy departures. Something the looks or acts familiar, but at the same time something "new" for some reason.

In the picture above, it looks like they've "re-imagined" Klingons by having Klingon head looking helmets worn by guys in "practical" leather over-coats.

well, i guess all we can say with certainty is that the klingon helmets have ridges.

Maybe in the post-Nemesis timeline, in the late 24th century Rura Penthe is run mostly by QuchHa (ridgeless) Klingons, who have been excluded from most parts of Klingon society? Just a thought.

We can stipulate that those guys Nero is fighting are Klingons, but since they are wearing helmet-masks (albiet ridged helmets) we ha no idea what they look like.

I think it's quite possible that every Klingon we see in this film will be wearing the helmet-mask, thus we will never discover what Klingons really look like (in this film anyway).

And again with what we know of this story as an alternate timeline the klingons could look and act entirely different from what we've seen in the past. Yet, with the film's supposed start post-Nemesis, they should look like what they did in TNG (if that shot of Nero and the guards is 24th century). Then again....

I have made no assumption. I have informed someone as to where they might find in the trailer a glimpse of people suspected by many to be Klingons; you must admit that the helmets seen in the screencap which Therin posted do suggest Klingon cranial ridges, whether or not the heads beneath in fact bear same. You have made an assumption in supposing that they are TOS-era, based upon no evidence whatsoever.

You know, I have to say that for a little while this forum was the place to be as we all anxiously looked at every new detail of the trailer and the scenes that were released to the press. Now, no offense, but didn't we talk about the Klingon helmets at length already?

I think we are treading water... but hey, I guess I should be grateful we have something to swim in. :)
