The Killing (AMC) Discussion

For a show that's been relatively slow-paced and light on tension all season, those last 5 minutes tonight gave me chills.

Given that we've spent the whole season wondering why the whole mayoral campaign plotline was part of this series at all, it makes sense that either Richmond or one of his lackeys was the killer. I still want to believe the best about Richmond, and wouldn't mind an eleventh hour twist that reveals, say, Gwen as the killer (so long as they come up with a plausible motive/explanation).

I'm glad this is all finally wrapping up next week. I'm wondering how much attention they'll pay to wrapping up all the other subplots, or if any of them will tie together in any way (ie, Stan's mob connections, Linden's son and ex-husband, the election campaign, etc)

I think they'll leave alot of the subplots unfinished in a "how many lives are ruined by 1 murder" sort of way.

Happy to hear about the renewal. I like the style of the show, and the two leads (who I assume would be the only ones back next season). I hope the writers pay attention and reflect on some of the criticisms the show has gotten though and can tighten up the second season.

Great episode. I also hope that the candidate isn't the killer. Dorian's suggestion sure seems like a possibility. And as long as next season is another case, I'm fine with it.

Apparently Jamie Anne Allman (Terry) is now confirmed as a regular for season two (in addition to Linden and Holder). So I guess the next season will still involve the Larsen family in some capacity? Hmm...

Count me as surprised at a renewal...

...but, nevertheless, I won't be there...

The show gets about the same ratings as Mad Men so the show wasn't gonig anywhere.

However I doubt I'll be around either, I just don't care about any of these characters. However I think it's interesting the show has taken place over 13 days and will end the season 13 days before the election. Maybe a plot point for the second season.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

:wtf:

OH. MY. GOD.

Well, they surprised me. Dammit, Holder. :scream: You disappoint me.

For those who watched the episode, no explanation necessary. They must have had two endings filmed, one in case of renewal and one not.

DVR'ed the finale, since AMC on Demand isn't the best about gettin' episodes up...will have to watch it later.

Watch it now. If you can't, don't stay in the thread and spoil yourself.

I cannot believe those self important detractors at TWOP, as if the show has committed a grave sin by ending its first season this way and not to their private specifications. Fuck you show, I'm out of here. What a bunch of whining little pussies they are. Then again, they do that for a lot of shows.

Yeah, that sucked. I'm out.

And just to add to that, anyone else think this episode could have come right after the premiere episode and the entire thing still would have made sense?

It didn't suck. No, the entire thing wouldn't have made sense if this came right after the premiere. I am so intrigued now. My money says that Holder is really a Fed.

I've only seen the first four episodes and I've been considering picking it up on DVD but not after the reaction to the finale. People are PISSED and not in a good way a la LOST or The Sopranos finale. Even with the first four episodes I could sense mediocrity climbing in but, yikes, sounds like I let it slide off the DVR at the right time.

I wouldn't say I'm pissed, because it was technically well produced and I felt excitement throughout most of the episode, but it's still annoying and feels like a cheat. Really interested to see what this means for the characters next year, but not sure if it's enough to care to tune in again next spring.

I'm still not sure how Holder expects to get away with whatever he pulled with the fake photo. He put the requisition request in with Linden's badge number and thus surely will find out at some point that he faked the evidence. And he also knows her well enough to know she's not just going to say "oh well" and move on with her life...

I'd give the first 5 episodes or so an A, but the season as a whole.... C+?
