The Kelvin is a two nacelled ship.

There have been several posts that address the Kelvin and describe her as having a nacelle and an engineering hull. This is not entirely correct. The Kelvin has two nacelles, one appears to house the engineering section and the other appears to house the warp coil.

Carry on.:techman:

Do you have any proof to back this statement up? Because all the pictures I see only feature one nacelle.

The ship clearly only has one nacelle. The thing on top has a hanger in back, and a deflector in front.

The nacelle looks to have a swirly blue globe in the back - similar to the TOS-ENT nacelles, only lit up.

Which the new Enterprise seems to have as well - like this single engined craft..

See, now from the back that looks like the thruster exhaust from a Star Wars ship. Entirely possible that the new warp-nacelles in this movie are more for a traditional "rocket" design, and warp mechanics work differently from previous series.

I think it is more a redesign of the balls at the end of the nacelles that were on the TOS Enterprise.

Exactly. They seem to be doing the blue glow thing that Trek nacelles have done since TMP, but I like this better than just trowing blue on the sides. It's more consistent with TOS this way. I think the nacelle balls were supposed to glow on TOS, but they didn't have the time or money.

It does kinda look like a SW exhast - but then again, SW exhausts are just plain rocket engines! I suspect the warp drives work exactly as they always have.

I wonder why they put the secondary hull on top and the nacelle on the bottom...?

The single nacelle on the bottom is similar to the "Saladin/Hermes Class", but those ships didn't have the secondary hull. That's probably where these guys got the idea for putting the engine on the bottom. The Kelvin looks like a Saladin class with an engineering hull added above the saucer.

...and for you purists out there, since single-nacelled ships (sans the engineering hull) were seen onscreen in TWoK (on the Enterprise bridge's monitors), they are indeed canon.

It's a Star Trek B-Wing!

I have no ideal what that pic is that is presented above. At 1:45 in the trailer it shows the Kelvin NCC-0514.The nacelle there is clearly above the saucer.I tried to do a screen capture of that but failed.I'm sure somebody else can do it for sure.
