Cubby Broccoli turned down Steven Spielberg... Twice.
Which the Bond films absolutely never were!it would just be insultingly sexist

Cubby Broccoli turned down Steven Spielberg... Twice.
He's too idiosyncratic of a filmmaker to be able to sublimate his style in a franchise like Bond.I hate to say this, but I don't think Spielberg would have been a good fit for Bond.
Bond movies have a certain style/look that I don't think Spielberg would have been able to capture.
Amy Pascal has reportedly said we'll know who the next Bond is by the end of the year.
Next round of auditions should happen this month. Looks like they are definitely looking for a 2028 release (of course who knows when in 2028!)

Cubby Broccoli claimed in his autobiography that Roger wanted to keep going and was disappointed to be let go.Do you realize that the last time a Bond actor left entirely on his own terms was Moore? Dalton wouldn't have left when he did without the production gap and Brosnan got the boot. (Still insane to me.)
That's FORTY YEARS ago.
I didn't know that. I heard that Moore wanted to leave after Moonraker but they kept offering him more money.Cubby Broccoli claimed in his autobiography that Roger wanted to keep going and was disappointed to be let go.
Yes, I'm including Craig. I guess I should have said "Craig is the first since..."I mean, didn't Craig leave on his own terms? (those terms being KILL ME OFF!)
I'm pretty sure if he'd given any indication of wanting to do a sixth film Barbara would have snatched his hand off!
Google says it was his choice.Cubby Broccoli claimed in his autobiography that Roger wanted to keep going and was disappointed to be let go.

That does not contradict what I said.Google says it was his choice.
Google says it was his choice.
Besides, I'll trust an autobiography over Google. That does not contradict what I said.
Roger Moore said in his biography that he was too old because the leading lady's could be his daughter.

Cary Grant had form, in an affair to remember the actress who played his grandmother was only 15 years older.I mean to be honest in some cases they could almost be his granddaughter.
He was 30 years older than Carole Bouquet for example.
In terms of being his daughter, this was pretty much the case from the off. He was 24 years older than Seymour, 19 years older than Bach, 20 years older than Chiles etc.
I appreciate this isn't something that was/is restricted to Bond ( my favourite is To Catch a Thief where Cary Grant is 25 years older than Grace Kelly, but only eight years younger than Jessie Royce Landis who plays her mum!).
It isn't even necessarily something from another era, Craig is old enough to be Seydoux's dad after all (though given the number of actresses I adore who are technically young enough to be my own daughter, Ms Seydoux included*, I probably shouldn't throw stones!)
Going forward I do want to see Bond girls who are closer in age to Bond (given they're going for a younger man this shouldn't be too difficult, at least at first). I'm not suggesting their can't be an age disparity, just that it shouldn't always be so pronounced. Hell let's even try and get a Bond girl who's actually older than the guy playing Bond again ( like Blackman, Rigg or Bellucci were)
*In my defence the age gap is less than 15 years![]()
