This only means that people not associated with MGM and Amazon Studios will be able to make Bond movies based directly off the novels, but they can't use elements introduced by the Eon films, so no gunbarrel opening, no Monty Norman theme. I'm not sure if the line "Bond... James Bond" came from the books or if it was written by the screenwriters of Dr. No, so even that might be out the window.

Yet The Great Gatsby only came into the public domain a couple years ago despite being published in 1925 and Fitzgerald dying in 1940.
I am pretty sure that that dates back to Casino Royale itself, so that will be one of the first things to go to public domain.

I'm specifically referring to US copyright in the post you quoted. I guess it's possible the copyright for Gatsby was renewed sometime after Fitzgerald's death; copyright can't be extended past 95 years since publication. But you'd think the Fleming estate would have renewed the copyright at some point, which could have potentially extended the copyrights until 2048 for Casino Royale and rolling foward on the other ones.There are differences between American and British copyright laws

You're ignoring the issue of AI "hallucinations" — where instead of just spitting back information it was fed (whether that information was correct or not), it transforms it into something else that is incorrect.
Just like James Bond says the copyright on the books will be cut off in 2030 but it will actually be cut off in 2035. I've never used AI other than asking Grok about a few TV series and movies, so I don't know about these kinds of situations. Then you're right, Grok, I should have investigated this information thoroughly when I learned it.

Using any AI to perform a search is ill-advised because of the multiple issues already noted. Wikipedia is available. There are many James Bond websites available. Anything associated to Musk should never be the first line of thinking for your source - you might as well say "I made it the fuck up."
I swear, until you said this; I didn't know about the hallucination issue. But since I already learned this information while looking for something, it's a little ridiculous to expect me to use wiki for information that I wouldn't normally learn. I'll do some research the next time I do a search like this on Grok.
I have never read a James Bond book before. Of course, in my country it is only known as a movie series. The books may not even be published. Other than that, I have never visited a James Bond website except for a few times.
