The iPhone 5 Thread

I just got an iPhone 4S last January so I'm pretty Meh about this, but I'd be interested to see what it ends up looking like.

Yeah, I just got my 4S earlier this year, so I don't have any intention of upgrading any time soon.

It'll be nice to see Apple catch up to 4G, but I doubt I'll be swayed from my current plans to switch to Android when my contract is up on my iPhone 4.

It would have to take something fairly drastic, such as Siri being projected as a hologram like Selma from Time Trax, to get me to switch. :D

Question, though: When switching from one phone to another, what kind of fees does this bring? Is it considered breaking the contract and thus subject to early termination fees, even though you're staying with the same contract - just a new phone?

I've been on Android for quite a few years now... and the iPhone 5 would have to be pretty spectacular to tear me away from my Galaxy Note...

80gb worth of memory, 1.5ghz processor, and a 5.3 inch HD screen... Can't see the iPhone beating it honestly

read on slashdot that Samsung are already to sue over the LTE support that's likely to be in the iPhone 5 and HTC (who suck budgie balls) are set to sue also using some patents they bought.

Just wish the whole goddamn lot of them would grow the fuck up and let the market decide.

And at the same time they take the exclusive carrier deals and shove them (and lock with the bullshit that having your phone unlocked - even by the carrier - voids the warranty).

I'll admit to voiding my warranty within 2 hours of owning the phone lol

both this Galaxy Note, and my previous Galaxy S... I get rid of the stock firmware immediately, can't be dealing with it... so i get a custom Rom base on ASAP... the one i'm using on my Note is AOKP based, but i've customised it quite heavily personally, so i'm more than comfortable knowing what it's doing and what it's capabilities are

I only got an iPhone 4 through work three months ago. I would never own an iPhone personally, too damned expensive.

If you want to see what it looks like before release just heard over to macrumors, theyve had component images and mockups for weeks.

Bought a Galaxy Nexus 3 months ago since the 4S just isn't competitive with the 4G Androids on the market. No way am I giving it up either.

Gonna upgrade from iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5 when it hits, also switching from AT&T to Verizon. We are on the every two year upgrade plan, so I can't wait to see what the phone has tomorrow.

notice, the only information about the processor is it's called the A6... and is 16% smaller than previous processors...

so wtf does that mean... there's no mention of it's speed, power, or any actual measurement to clock it against anything else...

most of the other hardware in the Iphone 5 looks pretty basic actually... less ram than modern samsung phones, standard Iphone screen and software... no expandable memory... i'm having a tough time seeing what the hype is supposed to be about

I put my iPhone in a case as soon as I bought it, and that added a bit of bulk to it. I would have done the same with this one. So the reduced size of the iPhone 5 is not a big deal for me. The 5's better camera would help, but I have a dedicated camera for that purpose.

exactly...

I use my phone as a phone... admitadly with email as well on it... i don't need a fancy camera on my phone, I have a Canon 5D MkIII Dslr for taking photos lol

I'm still researching the spec of this thing, but everything i've seen puts it at slower and smaller than the Galaxy S3... so why would anyone bother buying this piece of tin, aside from apple fanboys of course
