Re: The Interpretation of Dreams Thread™!
I had a fairly obvious dream last night, but it was lovely nonetheless. Right now my kindergarten class is making rock candy as a science/cooking/art/fun project (also ties in with our dinosaur unit by showing how minerals are dissolved in water and then deposit, as in fossilization). Anyway, we have all these jars full of different colored sugar water that are forming crystals. This is the first time I've made rock candy, though, so I've some minor anxiety about it turning out right.
In my dream I messed up majorly, and instead of strings of rock candy the solution came out of the jar as one massive, many-faceted blue crystal ball. And it got bigger, and bigger, and BIGGER. I tried to get my students to eat it but it was growing too large and began to float away. Soon there were different-colored sugar crystal balls floating all around the classroom. It was wonderful!
That sounds a little like
this computer game I picked up recently.
Anyway, this recent dream I had last night was interesting - possibly one of the few times I could control what was in the dream. in this dream I was part of a group of similarly-aged peers, many of whom resembled old school friends and old University friends, off to the local theatre (one of those modern-looking theatres that is all carpet and studio lights inside) to see a play. Bearing in mind that I had recently seen the televised adaptation of "Hamlet" starring David Tennant and Sir Patrick Stewart, the play in the theatre also happened to be "Hamlet", although while I was watching, sneaking into the auditorium and taking up their seats among the other audience members were Tennant and Sir Patrick themselves, listening and watching the players, commentating as it went along, and generally enjoying themselves. The performance was split up with several intermissions during which we all chatted among ourselves at the bar, discussing the play, other things in general, and about each other's lives. The second part of the play continued, and after the second intermission things continued as normal.
The third part then began, which introduced the supporting characters of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, but interestingly for this part the audience was taken outside to a different stage, with a deep snow setting, some castle ruins, and various added extras in snow suits and dressed up as reindeer offstage, many of whom were played by my friends who were drafted in to take part. I remembered walking around the area, seeing the actors getting ready to perform, then hitting their marks and performing, and eventually found my seat and the play continued, again with Tennant and Sir Patrick in the stalls, watching. It was at this point that I then stood up and left, and somehow found myself forcing myself into someone else's dream.
This someone else's dream also happened to occur in a different wing of the building, and involved myself gatecrashing a dream another person (someone who appeared to be an amalgamation of various close friends and sidekicks over the years) was having. In this dream, this person was watching as an older blonde-haired woman, in her late 30s, was teaching him how to swim in a swimming pool as part of her filming a short public information film. As part of her lesson she removed her heavy coat and appeared completely naked. The other person's task was to clothe her in more fitting attire using tightly-packaged clothing obtained from a set of bubblegum dispensers. The colleague chose a matching set of red lingerie, but I then interrupted and insisted that if she was going to swim, a bikini bathing suit would be more sensible - so I found myself using some spare change to select a red bikini top and bottom, rummaging around on the floor trying to pick up the dispensed items of clothing, then hurriedly handing them over toi the woman and ushering her to a side to some changing cubicles with shower curtains, especially as some footsteps were heard nearby and getting louder, presumably the rest of the film crew looking for this woman.
I then woke up.
